Through the day, the Democrats -- including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking member Bob Menendez and former Vice President Joe Biden -- seemingly settled on a new strategy. They praised the troops who executed the historic raid, while pointedly avoiding complimenting the president in any way.
The Democrats also lamented that they were not informed in advance of the operation, while the Russian military was told so that their airspace could be used. The president suggested Sunday that Democrats in Congress, who have been conducting an impeachment inquiry against him that has been fraught with leaked information to the media, were not notified before the raid because of concerns they might compromise the operation with leaks.

It may have been intentional, but it wouldn't have been the plan in 2017, it's just a necessity now due to the immense leaking. Of this he is correct.

I don't Trump is unempathetic to people. He's done what no other GOP leader would have been comfortable in doing with his First Step Act, and now Second Act. He knows it's not popular with everyone, but he is wisely surmising logic over just broad emotion of "lock them up and throw away the key". I can't lie when I say, I don't understand the far right on the issue of justice.

When it's time to get things done, be it Syria, dealing with ISIS, southern border and mass foreign gang abuses, he plays it strong, meeting fire with fire. When it comes to those who has done lengthy sentences and who shouldn't be rotting in prison forever, have grown and turned their lives around, he applies a common sense approach.

It's more libertarian and dare I say conservative in nature. About time really. Even Texas educated our former PM on how foolish it would be to build shiny new prisons and bankrupt jurisdictions with heavy handed, unbending incarceration (it has bankrupted jurisdictions)
