Australia is not known for observing proper broadcasting standards but this is really bad. According to Reuters, Channel 9 reporter Tony Jones pointed out that Djokovic is "overrated and a thing of the past." He also mocked the large number of Serbian fans who came to support him, saying, "Novak, get rid of them." Obviously, Tony Jones hates Serbian migrants in Australia. I have heard a similar remark made on air about Indian migrants during the Australian Open about a decade ago. There are one million Serbian Australians, making it the largest Serb diaspora group.

Djokovic stunned Rod Laver Arena and viewers on Channel 9 when he only offered up a few words to the crowd before walking off after a 6-3 6-4 7-6 fourth round win over Jiri Lehecka.

The Serbian superstar then fronted the media and made it clear that “offensive comments” made by Tony Jones days earlier were behind his Channel 9 boycott.

If you cannot be diplomatic then broadcasting isn't for you.

Djokovic didn't boycott the on-court interview last night in front of his family. The match went until nearly 1 a.m. and his daughter tapped her wrist to signal for her dad to "hurry up" so they could go to bed.
