I live somewhere in rural Austria European Union
The Catholics say on facebook: "We celebrate all saints and all hollows day not halloween or night of witches how they call them"

The Protestants say on facebook: "We celebrate reformations day on 31st October we do not celebrate evil"

The Orthodox Christians also celebrate something else, a saint or something, and they do not celebrate halloween

Im not against Halloween, i wouldnt take it too far by worshipping satan, or scaring children, but celebrating halloween is ok

I say something else and I'm not on facebook. Halloween is a celtic-pagan-christian tradition. But similar traditions exist also in other cultures. It existed for example "since ever" in Ireland but also in Bireland (Bavaria) and other regions of Europe like America for example. Here exist also very interesting "Indian"-pagan-christian traditions in this context.

I say we always celebrated all souls - independent from any concrete spiritual enlightenment - who died since human beings exist. And the day after we celebrated this we celebrate the hope that everyone might find the power of god to reach heaven.

And our celebrations are in most cases also often a lot of fun for kids and people who like to be like kids. Looks like that it is inevitable for our Catholic church to celebrate with a lot of fun - even if it is a very serios theme like death.

By the way - if you should not know: Witches do not exist! I'm nearly totally sure about.
