another left wing mass shooter bites the dust.

We hope. They still have to make sure. Or did I miss something?

Update: Charred Remains Not Yet Confirmed As Dorner...

LAPD: No celebration after fiery end to standoff
February 13, 2013 - Former L.A. cop Christopher Dorner, who was wanted for murder, engaged in gunbattle before cabin burned.
The fiery conclusion to a violent standoff in California's San Bernardino Mountains that may have ended the life of a fugitive cop killer was no cause for celebration to police officers working the case, Los Angeles Police Lt. Andy Neiman said Wednesday. "It was horrifying to listen to that firefight, to hear those words 'officer down,'" Neiman said.

Two San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies were shot, one fatally, before fire engulfed the cabin where Christopher Dorner apparently made his last stand. The Inland Empire Emerald Society, a charity for families of fallen officers, has identified the slain deputy as Detective Jeremiah MacKay, 35, of Redlands, a 15-year department veteran, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletinreported Wednesday.

The sheriff's office said charred human remains were found in the rubble. "We have reason to believe that it is (Dorner)," sheriff's spokeswoman Cynthia Bachman said. A wallet with a California driver's license bearing the name Christopher Dorner also was found, the Associated Press reported, citing a law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation but declined to be named because of the ongoing probe. Bachman said forensic tests would be carried out to confirm the identification. "Our deepest sympathy to the families" of the deputies who were shot, Neiman said.

The deputy's death in Tuesday's shootout was the fourth slaying attributed to Dorner, who also wounded three police officers last week in what his Facebook manifesto linked to a campaign of revenge for having been fired from the police department in 2009. The victims include Riverside Officer Michael Crain, 34, who was fatally shot a week ago as he sat in his police cruiser. On Wednesday, thousands of people gathered for Crain's funeral. Neiman said that investigations will continue at least until Dorner's body is positively identified. LAPD, which had been on high alert since Dorner began his rampage, has returned to normal operations, Neiman said.

Christopher Dorner's driver's license found with charred remains in burned-out cabin
2/13/2013 - Authorities found a wallet containing Christopher Dorner's California driver's license inside the burned cabin in Seven Oaks, the Associated Press reported Wednesday morning.
Late Tuesday night, San Bernardino County Sheriff's investigators found charred human remains inside the torched property but officials can not confirm they belong to Dorner until forensic testing is completed. Los Angeles Police Department officials said the condition of the body and the availability of forensic labs will determine how long it will take to identify the remains. It's likely the agencies will expedite analysis, Lt. Andrew Neiman added.

The effort to identify the human remains comes as Riverside police planned today to bury their colleague, Officer Michael Crain, an 11-year veteran on the force and father of two who was allegedly ambushed and killed by Dorner on Thursday. His funeral at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Community Church in Riverside drew thousands of people, including law enforcement from across the state.

Authorities have been hesitant to declare Tuesday's gun fight and fire, which consumed a cabin near Angelus Oaks in which Dorner was suspected to be holed up, the end of the massive manhunt. But Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said on CNN this morning the entire region "is breathing a sigh of relief" with the belief that Dorner is dead. "We do believe is it the body of Christopher Dorner, but we don't know for certain and until we do, the protection for those police officers will continue," Villaraigosa said. "The thing to remember is it is not just their lives, but their spouses, their kids, their families. I have talked with many of them and we are going to protect them until we are reasonably certain it is him."

About a dozen of the 50 or so protective details will continue to guard LAPD officials threatened by Dorner until there is a positive identification that the remains are the suspect's, Neiman said. The fire erupted Tuesday afternoon after a man deputies suspect was Dorner got into a shooting exchange with Fish and Wildlife officers, as well as sheriff's deputies. A deputy was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m. and another had undergone surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He is expected to survive. The deputies' names have not been released and officials did not discuss details about them because they were still notifying family members.
