I have to disagree. By your reasoning, it would be okay for Mrs. Smith to pull a gun and kill Mr. Smith because it is a 'Family' issue and government should not be involved.

This isn't an issue of the schools interfering with the moral teachings of the family. This is an issue of killing life. Government has a legitimate function in the prevention of murder and the killing of innocent life.
