Are Americans awkward about sex.

What is wrong in the US is some people who want to be Puritans are always trying to force their views on society and making the human body a taboo issue.
Force their views on society? You mean like schools forcing children to learn about various sexual perversions calling them normal and convincing children that there are 12,321 different genders, which has led to record numbers of children now confused about their gender as they desire to lop off their perfectly normal body parts?

Really? You want to go there?

Bugger off freaks!!

What part of any school's lesson plan involves "forcing children to learn about various sexual perversions calling them normal"? What part convinces children about different genders except to note the reality that there are people who are not categorically one or the other with respect to their internal perception of themselves?

Even cisgender people get harassed by the monkey contingent as not being a "real man" or a "real woman." Kids need to know how to deal with this stuff.
What part of a school lesson teaches kids to hate those that are gay??? Sunday schools.

The topic is actually about attitudes, and cultural differences.

Yes, Jews have their Sunday school on Saturday...

My impression from outside the US is, yes, Americans appear a bit weird about sex.

It seems to me that you have total extremes: On one side the inhibited puritans, who apparently think sex is a totally dangerous and awkward thing to have outside of a missionary position within a traditional marriage and that there is nothing as dangerous as teenagers having a sex drive ... and on the other side, who overcompensate that with a totally uninhibited celebration of free sex in all forms and colors, strip bars, porn industry and so on. It seems like there is no "sane middle ground" when it comes to sex in America ... from the outside.

What strikes me as weird, for example, is when I see depictions of sex matters among teenagers in American tv shows ... it looks as if it was accepted mainstream culture in America to condemn teenagers having sexual relationships and it's considered "good parenting" to keep teenagers from having sex before marriage. As if saying "just stay abstinent" had ever been effective. Rather than accepting the normal development and nature of teenagers and giving them rules and support at hand to live their nature in a harmless manner.

This is also reflected in American law, it seems. By no means am I an expert on American law, but it looks to me that many laws in these regards are not really meaningful. You read of stories when a 18 year old is convicted of "child abuse" when he had consensual sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. What a bullshit law. But I guess that varies from state to state.

I once was taken to a woman's bungalow whose parents were abroad.

I don't mean to brag but we had sex for over 36 hours practically non stop.

Of course the fete would have been totally impossible without the use of copious amounts of coke, amphetamines, and vodka, and that was the only reason we occasionally stopped but for no more than 15 mins.

It was a surprise to me how the body retained an abnormal level of sensitivity right the way through which enabled the acute intensity. My cock was red raw by the time we finished.

I now realise that without that experience I would have never really known what a real sexual experience was. The 'wham bam thank you mam', drug-free version could never really cut it after that.

There must have been billions of folk throughout history who have never known the level of euphoria where sex can take them.

Sorry what was the question?

Americans, as a group, do not seem to understand the normal transition from child to adult and what occurs naturally during this process, and therefore, the kids don't get any helpful guidance from adults. I know that I didn't until my aunt, a nurse and USAF officer, stepped in and gave me the straight dope.

To add to the bizarreness of it all, Americans seem to maintain a double standard, leading to the conclusion that American males don't exactly buy into the no-premarital sex and no-extramarital sex thing, "religious values" notwithstanding, yet many Americans remain horrified that the advent of contraception allowed women to adopt this same nonchalant attitude. Like, which is it? Women are not walking religious icons or horrible sluts. We are normal lusty humans.

Pre or post op gurl?

Decency and modesty are not "awkward." When some misguided, self-important sense of 'sophistication' strips sexuality of its personal, intimate nature it is reduced to nothing more than a sterile, mundane 'process' instead of the unique and special experience that it can be. If that gets it done for grey, bloodless, clammy Europeans they are welcome to their mediocrity in yet another area.

As the US election approaches, we take a virtual cross-country trip and ask our American friends fundamental questions around Americanness. The third episode of What's Up America focuses on the country's relationship with sex, from the first puritan settlers to the rise of #MeToo and the so-called ‘hookup culture’.

Not at all... well me anyway
