At the very least, a rich elderly white man referring to a black adult male as "boy" demonstrates a profound lack of awareness of how his words are likely to be interpreted. And viewed in context with Biden's many prior overtly racist remarks, I honestly don't think it's being misinterpreted. It's just that his manner of speaking in reference to black people is so deeply ingrained at this point that he's naturally going to say some eyebrow raising things when he goes off script. If you've ever spent time around any old men who grew up in the 40s and 50s in the country club setting, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's not about being offended -- I'm not black, so I can't speak to that. But it is what it is. What I do know is if Trump or any Republican had said this, it would be the #1 topic on CNN/MSNBC/NPR, running on a 24/7 loop.
