Los Angeles now has hundreds of prostitutes within a known 40 block area. Soliciting children for prostitution has become a big problem there. Republicans tried to pass a bill making solicitation or child prostitution a serious crime but amazingly, the Democrats fought tooth and nail to kill the bill. The bill has only now been largely brought back due to apparent NATIONAL OUTRAGE over the news.
Try as they might, democrats tried hard to make or keep child prostitution of minors for money buying sex from 16- and 17-year-olds only punishable as a misdemeanor, and from 15 years and younger a "wobbler" — with just two days of jail and/or a fine as punishment for a misdemeanor and jail time but no prison time as a felony. The amendments also gave judges the option to eliminate the minimum mandatory two days of jail.
One of the chief concerns for democrats was that incarcerating people for the sex trafficking of minors did little to deter the crime and would just fill up prisons unnecessarily. Democrats have now reluctantly restored the felony aspect of the crime after much pressure.
Vast swathes of California have become open prostitution zones. A Hollywood talent agency usually associated with actors in Los Angeles now also interestingly manages the careers of various key democrat politicians, no less Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Kamala Harris; I'm not sure why a politician needs a talent agency to shape their "careers"--- I always thought that politicians simply ran on the issues and their approach to the solutions. Why would you need a Hollywood talent agency directing you other than to try to make you appear as something you are not?
