If you are arrested and booked, can you refuse to cooperate and refuse to be finger printed until you are court ordered to do so?

If you refuse the officers are perfectly capable of forcing you.

But many aren't fingerprinted when they're arrested.

In Maryland v. King, the Supreme Court determined it was legal for law enforcement to take DNA swabs from people who have been arrested for “serious crimes.” I would imagine fingerprints are no different.

Has anyone else noticed the little ink pads at bank teller windows?
In some circumstances, they insist on taking your fingerprint before cashing a check.
