So this comes right after a Chinese crewed cargo ship was detained by Taiwan as it was suspected of cutting undersea cables. The live fire drills are just a response to this cargo ship being detained, but cutting the cables underseas could be a sign of something more sinister China is planning on.

Taipei/Hong Kong CNN

China’s military has set up a zone for “live-fire training” about 46 miles (74 kilometers) off the southwestern coast of Taiwan without advance notice, the island’s defense ministry said on Wednesday, condemning the move as provocative and a threat to international navigation.

It comes a day after Taiwan’s coast guard detained a Chinese-crewed cargo ship suspected of cutting an undersea cable in the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan’s defense ministry said it detected 32 Chinese military aircraft in the Taiwan Strait starting shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday (8 p.m. Tuesday ET). It added that 22 of those aircraft flew near the north and southwest of the island and carried out a “joint combat readiness patrol” with Chinese warships, according to the statement.

“During this period, (China) blatantly violated international norms by unilaterally designating a drill zone approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of Kaohsiung and Pingtung without prior warning, claiming it would conduct ‘live-fire training,’” the ministry said, adding that it “strongly condemns” these actions. Kaohsiung, a strategic commercial hub for Taiwan, is home to the island’s largest and busiest port.

WWIII is going to break out and America will be too broke and extended to help. Europe will as usual say "not our problem (but Europes problems are ALWAYS Americas problem)". Then Japan and Australia will feel more isolated and unsure of Americans fortitude.

China needs another 50% tariff to weaken them. Cut them out of U.S stock exchanges ffs.

They cannot project power like the Big Green Weenie.
America has teh war knowledge and tools.
80%+ of their stuff is knock-offs.

Laughable (at best).

They crush the USA in 37 of the 44 major technological fields. They dominate the globe in manufacturing. They have the worlds largest Navy (NOT the USA). They have 20 soldiers for every US soldier. Over half the US population would sabotage the homeland and do every insane act conceivable to help China defeat the USA. Hell, they have millions of Chinese already here.
I would bet they already have an answer for all our stealth and "high" tech weapons and can switch it all off whenever they are ready.

Outside of nuclear warfare, they would kick our asses in ANY confrontation and they know it. They could easily overwhelm us with sheer numbers. We'd have to beg China for materials to keep our military going.
The ONLY reason they haven't already is because they're still milking the US economy dry while building their military industrial complex that YOU are paying for with every Made In China purchase.

Americans have ALWAYS underestimated their enemy. We couldn't even defeat North Vietnam.

The Chinese leaders aren't stupid like we Americans as a whole are. But maybe you can scare them with drag queens and DEI. At least we have that.

And btw....every single day you rely on and buy their knock-offs because you have no choice.

Trump does not want to risk a war over Taiwan and he refused to comment on the matter when he was pressed by a reporter. Taiwan only recently broke up with mainland China controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) when the Chinese Nationalists fled to Taiwan in 1949. Despite their ideological differences, they are both Chinese and it's their internal problem.

We really, really don't want to fight a war over a country that is dwarfed by the aggressor nation and sits only 80 miles away from it at one point, geographically speaking, it is perhaps the most disadvantageous positon we could possibly be in fighting a war, and we are absolutely dependent on China for so many raw materials, all of which would be halted, as well as manufacturing in China, that our exports would drop in such a way that our economy would start to crater, especially with the debt load already on it.

There is nothing we can do for Taiwan, militarily, our Navy is stretched thin and vulnerable just on the fact that it is reliant on bases on Japan and Japan offers no military assistance to any confict, for them to engage against China would be like Germany waging war on Israel, from a historical perspective. Their history from WWII is not forgotten.

We would be isolated very far from home, with a Navy already suffering from manpower issues, on the doorstep of an ideologically committed foe with a sheer advantage in numbers. We'd be screwed.

Liberals dont want machinery that runs on yucky oil, things that make smoke, processes of steel or aluminum. they simply want to buy it from somewhere else. We really need to somehow bring back heavy industry to the U.S. and become an exporter once more.

They are really after the microchip technology that Taiwan has. Letting them just take it by force could also be disasterous for the world.
