A jury reached a verdict on Friday afternoon in the case against CNN, following claims by plaintiff Zachary Young that the popular news organization defamed his business and character in a story alleging he preyed on Afghan refugees. Young was awarded five million dollars in the first phase of the trial.

‘Stood up to fake news’: CNN liable for defaming Navy veteran to the tune of at least $5 million — with additional liability for punitive damages to come later

A Florida jury on Friday morning put itself into position to deliver money justice to a U.S. Navy veteran who was defamed by CNN during a broadcast about his private business efforts to evacuate people from Afghanistan as the war-torn country was overrun by the Taliban.

A unanimous six-person jury in Bay County determined the cable news network was liable for defamation stemming from a November 2021 segment on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” in which journalist Alex Marquardt painted Zachary Young as an “illegal profiteer” exploiting “desperate Afghans” with “exorbitant” fees amid the fallout of President Joe Biden’s chaotic withdrawal, according to the language of the lawsuit.

The settlement was probably based on the approximate five hundred viewers actually watching CNN....Punitive judgement to follow. Could be $20 mil.

LOL....add that to George StepOnAllOfUs over at ABC "News" getting his ass handed to him, including a court order to issue a public apology.

Wonder if CNN will cover the story? ;)

Florida jury convicts CNN of libeling Navy veteran in Afghan story

Zachary Young accused the Cable News Network of destroying his business by showing his face onscreen for a story about a “black market” that was smuggling out desperate Afghans for high fees.

I doubt it qualifies as bs about some service person. I don't believe the lawyers for the guy. But a jury has done so.

95% of TV is woke. It is endless. The lies were proven with Joe. If you can deny there is a problem with something that was obvious, with the President of the United States, you can get away with anything.
