Democrats threaten Catholic Church for denying Biden Communion

They should be stripped of that anyway. The church as an entity.
I believe orgs like Catholic Charities and the Sisters of Mercy will be OK. :)
Legally separating them from Bishop's oversight might be a positive. They could still have charitable status.

I'd prefer it if religious organizations did not offer "official" pronouncements on political issues. If an individual bishop wants to run his (and read his) diocese the way he sees fit, so be it.

I think the Church would be shocked to learn how many Catholics are pro-choice.

But being pro-choice doesn't mean you support abortion. It simply means you support a woman's right to make a choice you may or may not agree with...

Abortion isn't a political issue. The church has had prohibitions against murder since the time of Christ. Other religions have had it for much longer.

Democrats to declare war on the Catholic Church for following their own doctrine and holding politicians accountable for their public policies.

That’s sure to go over well with Hispanic voters.

Did the Catholic church deny communion to the Nazis for their National Socialist genocide? I don't think so. That is why they did not come out publicly against the Holocaust. They knew that their church would be burned to the ground and all of them shot.

But facing all of the Left wing governments in the world, I think they have similar concerns with the far Left over coming out against yet another Left wing Holocaust of abortion.

My guess is that they will cave like they did in the 1940s.

A church that protected its pedophiles for decades is cool.
But that is politics. It ruins everything.

How is anyone being threatened? The RCC is an organization led by males in fancy clothes. Calling it "the Church" gives this guy club an honor and status that it does not deserve.

Can't tax religion, it's unconstitutional. It violates the First Amendment, sorry.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Hypothetically? It would pose an undue burden on new religions, favoring established well off denominations of Protestantism, Judaism, and Catholicism .. . . which would, by default, amount to the state sanctioning those as establishment religions.

Taxing religion interferes with the "free exercise thereof." Sorry godless atheist. . . YOU ARE SHIT OUT OF LUCK.

The Catholic Church is one of the most powerful and richest organizations the planet has ever known.

I'm sure they don't really give a fuck what some dipshit Democrat from California wants to do to them...

Some believe women don't deserve to be in government, the military or the right to vote. . . but we let them anyway, don't we?

:itsok:

Do you blame them.

I was never asked my name when I received the host. For all they care I could of been a serial killer that tortured many children before I killed them.

abortion is a political issue, it should fall under civil rights.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

Religious organizations should not have tax exempt status.

Charities associated with religious organizations should be allowed tax exempt status as a charitable non-profit organization.

they all should be taxed.
If you believe so?

Then start a petition to repeal the first Amendment.

Wow, you have that backwards!

The tax laws exempt religions from paying taxes. Therefore, the tax law is a law which 'Respects establishments of Religions'. The exemption should be removed from the tax laws, then religious organizations would have to pay taxes like everyone else.

Making religious organizations pay taxes would in no way prohibit the free exercise of that religion.

Sorry, voodoo man, your argument is BULLSHIT!!!

Yeah. There is no move to prohibit the bishops for punishing one pol and not another in an attempt to influence political events. The catholic church is free to do that, although the W administration pulled some tax protections from groups opposing Bush's War. I'm pretty sure the Biden admin will not do that.

But at some point, catholic charity may be better off cutting the bishops loose.

The argument here is tax exempt status while funneling money to political campaigns and causes. Tax exempt status comes from the IRS rules. Revoking those rules would not be a Constitutional violation. No one is preventing them from assembly or their right to speak their political viewpoints. No undue burden. They would be taxed like every other overt political entity.

Sorry, your argument here holds no water.
