Rob Schneider Says ‘Saturday Night Live’ Overt Liberal Politics Hurt Its Comedy

Rob Schneider, Kanye West, Diamond and Silk.......................Trumps opposition in 2020 doesn't have a prayer

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Schneider said SNL is less funny because it wears its political heart on its sleeve. Schneider was part of SNL when Mike Myers, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler were also on board, a period considered particularly strong for the long-running, late night comedy romp.

“The fun of ‘Saturday Night Live’ was always you never knew which way they leaned politically,” he told the Daily News. “You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat’s out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going.”

He's probably right. For a while it was my view that Trump's presidency had made the show relevant again. At least while their "Spicy" clips were running and I would catch them on YouTube. I haven't been a fan for SNL for quite some time (stopped watching even before the above mentioned cast was aboard) and instead got my kicks from Key & Peele and skits of others on YouTube. Since I don't watch I can't judge but I could see how the political angle can be over-played and make writers lazy.

This is more about the revolt, one by one of Trump fans, Kanye West was just the beginning
