My daughter was considering a visit to California but I talked her into Morocco instead. Not perfect but a lot safer.

Thailand is amazing, but there are too many tourists over there during the winter months, I need to visit over there during rainy season or maybe their summer. I'm watching a guy on YouTube in Hanoi right now, it was 19C / 66F there the other day, very cool compared to Thailand, which has been roasting for months

As a US citizen I can go anytime I like. I simply have no interest in going anytime soon.

I'm guessing you don't go there because welfare and snap are not honored there and you can't afford the flight of course.
