A Portland woman has been arrested in Chicago and charged with multiple felony hate crime and criminal defacement charges. Mariana Noel Lynch allegedly vandalized multiple businesses and a Jewish school with a hammer and sickle, swastikas and pro-Palestine messages. The former taxi driver was the administrator of a group app for taxi drivers in which checks and traffic jams were reported. When many messages about Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters appeared in this app in the days leading up to the match, he decided to set up the group ‘Buurthuis 2.
A member of the group wrote in "Buurthuis 2" that small groups of Maccabi supporters in yellow shirts had to be provoked in the city by shouting "Free Palestine" at them. Members of the group could then share the locations of the supporters and attack them. ‘That’s always good,’ Mounir M'C replied.
A member wrote in the group that "a train full of Jews would arrive at the stadium later". Mounir M'C replied that "Hitler had ordered a special train full of gas for them, which meant they were a bit late."
Mounir M'C admitted in court that "There were many taxi drivers involved." Mar 7, 2025.

Columbia Declined To Investigate Swastikas Scrawled Throughout Hamilton Hall Because They Were 'Written in Chalk and Could Be Erased': Complaint. Ivy League school faces federal civil rights probe into allegations from janitors Mariano Torres and Lester Wilson. March 17, 2025. In December 2023, months before Columbia University student activists took over Hamilton Hall, a group of them "ran riot" through the campus building and "scrawled obscene graffiti, including swastikas," a school janitor alleged in a federal discrimination complaint. Columbia did not investigate the ordeal because the swastikas were considered "free speech" and were "written in chalk and could be erased," according to the janitor, Mariano Torres.
Torres filed the complaint alongside his colleague, Lester Wilson, in October. Both men were working inside Hamilton Hall on the night of April 29, 2024, when Hamas-supporting rioters stormed the building and hoisted a banner calling for "intifada."
