One of the most tremendous saints in the Catholic Church, Anthony is the saint turned to when Roman Catholics lose their car keys and cell phones, No "resting in peace" as he's been summoned to find lost items since his death in 1231.

Anthony was assigned to his "finder" role after his success back during his priestly ministry in the 13th century.

He heard the confession of a young man in Padua, and the teen confessed that he had kicked his mother in the keister. Tony got angry and commented that someone who did such a thing would be better off to have their foot chopped off.

The teen was moved, and when he got home, he chopped his own foot off with an ax and threw it away.

That kind of injury was a fatal one in 13th Century Italy, and Tony was called to the boy's residency to give him last rites. On the way, the saint looked for and found the kid's discarded foot and when he made it to his home, he miraculously restored the foot to his leg and the boy immediately started dancing.

Every since then, whether it is the remote, the TV guide or someone else's foot, people have turned to St. Anthony.

What feast does monk William of Occam celebrate? Occam' Razor.

William was a Franciscan just like Anthony, I'm sure that he appealed to Tony as well when he misplaced the keys to his chariot(living in the age before automobiles of course)

Just a test to see if anyone on USMB has ever heard of Occam' Razor and know what it means. You pass but Occam didn't ride a chariot in 13th century England. Most likely a horse pulled cart or walked.

Next, Diogenes of Sinope who was born blind but carried a lighted lantern searching for an honest man. Sinope was a suburb of ancient Athens and the birthplace of Democracy.
