Harris to end filibuster to support abortion

those election consequences huh? They suck. Like this shit show we got going on in the White House the last four years.
I remember Mitch saying it should be up to the people to decide who gets to pick the next SC justice when Scalia died in Feb. 2016. But when Ginsburg died less that two months before the 2020 election he shoved Barrett down America's throat in a few week. You reap what you sow.

Remember history ladies, and vote the party of hypocrites out of office at every level of government.

Right. But she is at the top of a ticket that includes a battle for control of the senate.
So? She won’t win. And the senators get voted on separately, anyway.

If she did win (Heaven forbid), control of the senate still wouldn’t give the senate a 3/5ths majority. So the senate rule about invoking cloture would still fail to be amended.

Except McConnell/Reid only needed a simple majority to change the filibuster (cloture) rules.

Maybe you are blind.

The best piece you offered proves you wrong.

Maybe you didn’t read it.

If an opponent to a Senate Rules change on cloture (which is what we are discussing) wanted to engage in a filibuster against such a proposed rules change, the Senate would have to invoke cloture. And that requires a 3/5ths supermajority vote.

Try again.

Look. After years of saying that Roe should have been made law by Congress and not the SCOTUS… republicans block that legislation from happening (using the Senate filibuster in many cases) and then nuking the SCOTUS filibuster in order to overturn it… it’s time to nuke the Senate filibuster (it can be done on a case by case basis) and make abortion access LAW.

It’s that simple.

Why it isn't equal protection which would make it null and void!

McConnell changed the rules with well under the 60 needed to stop debate. So did Reid.

"Senate Republicans used the “nuclear option” Thursday to change the chamber's rules and clear the way for the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch."

Not sure that a cloture vote is required for a Senate rules change, otherwise Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell could not have changed the rules for confirming SES and judge/justices. This last time the dems only needed 51 but Manchin and Sinema said no.

Cloture is not required for rules changes

He is one of the biggest hypocrites in the Neo-GOP.

We'll see how much the Neo-GOP whines when the shoe is on the other foot.

Chuck never blocked a hearing or a vote on any one of Benedict Donald's nominees. But if he could have.....

This right here is why I cannot support Kamala Harris. She wants to end the filibuster so the democrats can pass abortion rights with 51 votes. It's only for abortion she says, but any idiot knows that once you abolish the filibuster for a specific reason it ends up being permanent for everything. And once that happens, there will be no more compromise or cooperation in the Senate and bipartisanship goes right down the drain.

The democrats came close to doing just that back in 2021 when they tried to abolish the filibuster but Manchin and Sinema wouldn't go along. One of these days, they're going to get it done and that's when we start down the road to a one-party rule gov't. If you think gridlock is bad, wait until you get one-party rule.
I thought Komrade was abolishing the filibuster to pass the green new deal? I'm pretty sure she's on video saying that...
