i am interested as i shop sometimes at Aldi in Germany

have shopped at Aldi also?

I have.

I don't like it.

The prices are cheap, but they don't even provide you with shopping carts you can take out to your car or bags to put your groceries in.

My wife, however, loves it, and she does most of the grocery shopping.

I find it stressful

You have to find your own boxes and the cashiers are very impatient

Plus I’m not impressed by the selection of groceries

what?.....joe they just opened 2-3 here in vegas and they have carts and bags...but the store is to small, pretty crowded...

Shopped at Aldi in the UK, France, Italy and Australia. Their prices are good, the quality quite good though the range is a bit limited. They don't tend to have "specials" where the prices are heavily discounted; that's when I like to stock up.

Overall, I like them especially for small quantities.

I'm sure they do.

Doesn't take away from my point that they get those low prices by providing absolute garbage service levels.
Not at all. They have the usual check-outs (assisted AND self) and they have trolleys that OK; take a coin but you get that back when you return it to the collection site. Yes; I do collect a box on the way around the store as I do at Bunnings AND the regular Chain stores (Woolworths and Coles); I REFUSE to pay for bags and usually forget to 'bring my own". Not sure what "service" you require though.

Um, having a shopping cart.
Having staff who can answer questions.
Having a cashier who doesn't sneer at you like you are the one ruining her minimum wage life.

Bunch of Generic crap in white boxes from God knows where? When I want my $6 Frosted Flakes by God I want the blue box Tiger on the outside hard-core premuim extra sugar flakes from Battle Creek. That is all.

Aldi has good meats. Very cheap compared to other supermarkets
