If you broke your knee, stopped in hospital for the night, had an x-ray, cast in the morning, replacement cast twice over 6 months because muscle mass shrinks, cast removed and physio, then checked and signed off by a doctor...

..ignoring insurance policies....

...how much would cost in an American hospital?

Every American is going to have a different answer because we all have different insurance coverage.

For me… that first night is going to be $300 (deductible) + 5% (co-insurance) of whatever uncovered amount is over that. Follow up appointments would be $45 (specialist copay) + 5% (co-insurance) of the costs beyond covered items. The maximum I can end up paying out of pocket for myself is $2200 a year.

Nuffink......Oz Public Hospital. Downside is I was taken to one when I had a bad leg from football. They FAILED to check the drain and two years later I finally got back onto a footy field. Irony was I was still on my parents' Private Cover and it still would have been fully covered. Since then I've used the Public System and they've been very good indeed during the crisis but the aftercare was frankly bloody awful!!

In the US; never been there.

If you're Haitian or Venezuelan and broke in illegally?

Nothing

Hence why I said, "ignoring insurance policies"

Easily tens of thousands of dollars I imagine.

People who love Universal Health Care and think it's the easy solution to this, it's not. There is no easy solution.

No clue since I have insurance all I could tell you is how much I would pay out of pocket.

The night in the hospital would cost $100, the x-ray and cast nothing as they were part of the hospital stay. Replacement cast $37 each and then $37 for the final visit. So, $174.

My annual premium is $726 which includes me, my wife and my 22 year old son.

There are no easy solutions, but there are solutions.

I pay around $600 a month for the same .gov coverage that the congress critters get.

I pay a very small co-pay ($3.00 at most) for R/Xs and that's about it.

The wife was in the hospital for a week last month 58K, I paid nothing extra.

Call it $7350.00 a year for that kind of peace of mind.....Priceless.

Pretty much free because I did four years in the US Army, have VA coverage, Medicare, and Humana coverage.

My VA co-pays are $8.

Interesting to read the three figures on the US, the UK, and Switzerland. I've also found many links trying to compare country's healthcare systems but there's differences in each ones, so not sure how accurate comparisons can be.

I don't think many could give an answer to the query. There definitely needs to be more transparency in the area of medical billing so people have a better idea of the costs.

No sane person in this country is trying to pay for medical costs without insurance. You’d be talking tens of thousands of dollars, if you could get it done at all.

Actually, we have the worst healthcare in all the developed world. Government took over healthcare, government imposed massive regulation, doctors had to hire tons of staff to deal with all the bureaucracy and paperwork, and now they try to pass the cost onto you.

Years ago I needed a few x-rays. My doctor told me his cost was about $300. The hospital that took them wanted to charge $5,000, and they didn't even reach a diagnosis.

Actually, we have the best in the world.

When British subject Mick Jagger needed complicated heart surgery, he came to America instead of having it done in England for free.

Its about quality in America

We have the best if you are filthy rich and can afford to pay for it.

Its better for everyone, HE.

Recently, there has been whining and bitching by Leftards about the availability of, and shortages of Ozempic in America.

What a load of shit.

In actuality, America has 2/3 of the world's entire supply of this new wonder drug.

Sure, it costs money, but its better for something to be expensive but available than cheap and impossible to find.
