i find it quaint the way they try to be English.

How do they try to be english?

We share our Queen with them and they have their very own France.

Constitutional Monarchy was preferable at the time, not sure why though.

Like the Queen of France, she's redundant in Canada.

She is pretty much redundant here too, more of a figure head and tourist attraction than anything else.We still love her though.

Most like the tradition and tend to be unaware that the Queen is still head of state and does have some reserve powers, exercised through the Governor General.
