Trump floats punishment for ABC after debate

Former President Trump is suggesting ABC News be punished for what he is calling a hostile performance by the network’s debate moderators on Tuesday evening.

“ABC took a big hit last night,” Trump said Wednesday morning during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“I mean, to be honest, they’re a news organization. They have to be licensed to do it. They ought to take away their license for the way they did that.”

The Federal Communications Commission does not license major broadcast networks such as ABC, but does license some local stations.

Trump has repeatedly attacked ABC for its coverage of him and routinely blasts the mainstream press as the “enemy of the people” and “fake news.”

To be clear this........They ought to take away their license for the way they did that.”.........was in reference to being fact checked.

The question voters should not be asking themselves is whether the threat will be acted on if he's elected.
The question voters should be asking themselves is how can I vote for a man who would make such a threat in the first place?

And Putin smiles.

Indeed he does.

He's telling us what he wants to do, and this time he'll be surrounded ONLY by people who want to help him.

And the flock is fine with it. Who knew they were this weak.
Better than the likes of EU leaders, much less that cuck to the north of us or the corrupt pieces of shit to our south.

The "national free press" (ABC, NBC, CBS) should have to be "fair" in reporting, or pay a fine.
"News" shows should have their fairness rating announced at the start of every "news" program.

Trump: 'I have an Article 2 where I have the right to do whatever I want as president'

Article II of the United States Constitution bestows executive power on the office of the presidency. For example, the article establishes the president as the commander-in-chief of the military and grants the office the power of pardons. But it's also sandwiched between Articles I and III, which are the foundations for the powers of the legislative and judiciary branches. You know, the whole checks and balances thing. It's unclear, however, if President Trump understands this.

During a speech at Turning Point USA's Teen Action Summit, Trump played his usual hits. But while railing against the Democrats for their "witch hunt" into 2016 Russian election interference and alleged obstruction of justice, Trump mentioned that he has "an Article II," which would allow him to do whatever he pleases.

He only hears what he wants to hear so his recognition of Articles I and III doesn't exist.

IOW, if trump says it, it must be right.

Nixon once said if the prez does it means it's not against the law. The SC has essentially put their stamp of approval on that statement. trump believed it even before the ruling. He claimed Article II gave him the right to do anything. What a **** show this is going to be if he's re-elected.

(A). The problem of major "news" networks acting as influencers rather than reporters of events (with a legitimate right to assert opinions, when clearly labeled as such) is one that deserves attention. The First Amendment, despite Leftist bizarre claims, does NOT give an unrestricted right to say or publish anything you want.

(B). It is positively bizarre when Leftists screech about Trump's "threats" to use expansive Presidential power, when they have expanded Congressional powers beyond not only the words of Article I, but beyond any rational extension thereof.

(C). The decade-long slander campaign against Trump is so engrained in the Media culture that it goes unnoticed by most of the news-consuming public.

maybe we could have a "doctrine" mandating "fairness?"maybe something similar to the ":fairness doctrine" destroyed by reagan so his fox enablers could lie for him?

I think the free press is important. They can report whatever they want, but some kind of a bias rating should be assigned AND POSTED as part of the program or story.

I love the smell of desperate leftists in the morning.

"They ought to take away their license" - an opinion
"Maybe I will take away their license" - 'floating' punishment

Don't worry - no one here expects your to admit your intentional error.

Some time in the future research papers will be written about how The Following became enamoured with an authoritarian figure who in real life is a flaming buffoon.

Constitutional rights? What a quaint notion.
Uh... What?? Are you wanting to dispense with the Constitution now?

You mean we should have a fairness doctrine for news reporting?? If I recall, this was a big issue for Rush Limbaugh hating libs back in the day.. when they wanted the same for Talk radio.

That and the creation of the internet changed everything in horrible ways even the conservatives behind could not image.
