One minor problem... Members of congress can not be civilly or criminally held liable while in the discharge of their duties on the house or senate floors. A law that needs to be changed...especially when they are attempting to deprive a person of their right to hold office or be removed from office. Deprivation of rights must be done with due process and impeachments are a form of due process. I don't think congress critters should be able to lie and be deceitful in this process as the current ones have done.

Had Chief Justice Roberts been presiding there would have been a vote to throw out the case on ground of fabricating evidence but the partisan acting as a judge and juror wont do that..
