Hi. Haven't done this in many years. Is it still a thing? How do you do it? I want to be able to just walk into a business and ask them if they are hiring. No resume, no interview, just let them see me, and I get hired on the spot. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks

People don't hire like this anymore, companies are constructs with a hierarchy, HR department etc.

It's a sad state because many good people are overlooked and it ensures nepotism and a control of our companies so that only "the good ones" get to work.

You will follow our centralized system until you collapse. Maybe Trump, DOGE and his administration can avert this but he is going to have immense pushback from his own party who have donors to appease.

Sounds like how my Cleveland Browns approach the draft.
Don't tell me the players on the Browns team get a paycheck

I thought it was just all on a volunteer basis.

Small operations sure, larger ones have as many layers of bureaucracy as the .gov.

It took a full month to hire anyone when I worked for DuPont.....They would form a "hiring task force".

CBS News has reported about some employers that put out fake job ads to collect information about job seekers. they have no intention of hiring anyone.

I know of bars/clubs that will hire security, bartenders, dj’s etc. like that and pay in cash under the table. I didn’t fill out any paper work, I never even told them my last name. This obviously isn’t really legal.

Other, more legit places…. well, I’m sure you could walk into any Walmart and more or less get hired on the spot.

But it would entail filling out some sort of application or info online at some point during the hiring process. And there would be some form of “interview”, even if it was just describing the position and asking a few questions. Even an employer who pays under the table is gonna ask you a few questions. No getting around that.
