Moscow flexes muscles in challenge for Arctic control, what we the Free World ´d do in order to stop Moscow advance in Arctic ?

The Russian military cargo plane flew us almost to the top of the world, to an archipelago once best known for its rare bird species and its walruses.
Now Franz Josef Land is home to a Russian military base and the source of added tension in relations with the West.
The US has once again accused Moscow of "militarising" the Arctic and the head of Russia's Northern Fleet has told the BBC that Nato and US military activity in the region is "definitely" provocative and on a scale not seen since World War Two.
Nato's spokeswoman confirmed that the alliance had stepped up its patrols and exercises, in response, she said, to a "more challenging security environment".

Russia used a submarine and planted the Russian Flag on the North Pole. Why? North Pole crude oil.

Its been about ten years since Russia's drilling platform in the Arctic turned over and killed 53 people. I am surprised they want to go back.

True but everything is a risk. No money ventured, nothing gained.

They have a few more to kill now.

Not sure what they are doing wrong here. The resources there are open to anyone and a country laying claim to land it cannot defend and does not really control is just asinine. There is nothing that would stop Russia from exploiting this resource.

Of course, if we were busy shutting Russia's prospects for selling that oil off as we should for other geo-political concerns (militarily conquering part of Ukraine for instance) then this would not even be a dispute - Russia would not need to seek out new sources of oil.

Instead, Biden is busy dismantling sanctions on Russia because Putin is a killer and all that...

As the new administration in control of the executive and legislative branch is made up of neo-Marxists, to expect this government to do anything more than toss out some harsh verbal exchanges between it and the Russian government (and also China and their expansion), is expecting too much. Our proto-Communist government is now best buddies with China and Russia and eventually with North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Laos, Iran and Hamas. Our new enemies will become South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and India.

Moscow has more than 6 thousands nukes, that's why any reasonable American politian shouldn't do anything stupid and extremely provocative.
