No President has a good second term, so why do you think Trump will?

So, without getting into policy or politics, the reality is that Presidents never have good second terms. There are reasons for this. While in a first term, a President will try to burnish his credibility by appointing Senators and Governors to key posts, in a second term, he's more likely to appoint loyalists who are less likely to say, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." They are more likely to have scandals.

Let's review recent history, shall we?

Obama - Lost the Senate in the midterms. Mired in the IRS fake scandal.
Dubya Bush- Iraq war went south, Katrina, and the economic crash of 2008.
Clinton- Monica Lewinsky
Reagan - Iran Contra, the 1987 Stock market crash
Nixon- Watergate
Johnson - Vietnam, Race Riots, Civil unrest

He's not even president yet. How would you anticipate one to forecast the next 4 years?

If Trump cleans up the immigration mess (which will likely take all four years), he will have a great second term. Also, it really will be a second first term as the two aren't really that connected, and the issues are much different. Also, he will likely navigate around the obstructionist Democrats better this time. In fact, given the mandate that he clearly has Democrat obstruction might lead to Republican gains in the midterms.

This is essentially another first term for Trump, so those comparisons are out the window. He'll be the guy who was brought in to fix it twice.

Because it's not Harris.

He could do terrible and I'm still going to be happy !

Keep trying to douse the celebration, you are only adding to the festivities as we watch you morons flail.

Except nothing he proposes is going to fix the problem of immigration.

Walls and deportations don't work. We've been trying that shit for 30 years, and if anything, we've made it worse.

The only precedent we have for non-consecutive terms is Grover Cleveland. His second term was such a fucking disaster the Democrats didn't get back into the White House for another 16 years, and only then because the Republicans fought among themselves.

50.3% against a substitute opponent is not a mandate. It was more like a resignation.

Seems like you guys dont have a vision, just bitterness.

When Trump fails to make you happy, you will still be miserable.
Uh, no I won't.

Bush didn't make me miserable....he was a moron.

Obama didn't make me miserable....he was a moron.

Trump didn't make me miserable.....he was a moron.

Biden made me laugh.....he was such a huge moron.

But keep trying.

History.

It doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

Going back to the point, which President has had a "Good" Second term?

Trump lucked out that Democrats failed to admit Biden's failing health, but now they are the ones with the guy who will have failing health. Trump is already showing signs of senile dementia.
