2. Another 'brilliant' Liberal economist out to support communism, i.e., command and control by big government.

c. In 1970 the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, and the author of the best-selling and most popular economics text was Paul Samuelson.

"As non-economist Tim Bethell pointed out in a 1988 article in National Review, successive editions of Samuelson's Economics showed a graph of relative growth rates for the US and Soviet economies with the Soviet growth rate rising more steeply than the American one. ....the Soviets were projected to overtake the US in about twenty-five years."
John O’Sullivan, The President, the Pope, And the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World, p. 255

The 'data' was, of course, fed to this scholar by the same folks who built Potemkin Villages.

3. "With each new edition of the book, the date of intersection with the US economy was shifted out into the future. Samuelson's seventh edition (1967) ....put the Soviet economy at 50% of the US in 1960...with intersection ...in about 1990.

By the tenth edition (1976)....Soviet GDP had moved ahead to 57% of US........intersection point around the year 2000.

The graph has been dropped from Samuelson's ...(twelth) edition.

4. BTW....
"It is a vulgar mistake to think that most people in Eastern Europe are miserable," wrote Samuelson in the tenth edition of his textbook "Economics." This, mind you, in the aftermath of the 1953 East German uprising, the 1956 Hungarian uprising and the Poznan protests in Poland, the 1968 revolution in Czechoslovakia--all suppressed with bloodshed by Soviet tanks."

5. Reagan, on the other had it 100% correct.

But....who gets taught in the university???

I took several Economics courses in the 1970s and used Samuelson's text book.

The book was fine on giving basic Economic fundamentals of supply and demand and elasticity and things like that.

However, the thing that I remember was most screwed up was the premise that the government could somehow stimulate the economy by taking money from the people that earned it and giving it to somebody else. Samuelson put far too much faith in government to get it right.

He really ignored how FDR screwed up the Depression recovery with government interference.
Samuelson is the leading proponent of the broken window fallacy....The primary stupidity behind Keynesian voodoo economics.

As far as the college "educated" are concerned, they're being trained to be stupid, by eliminating the Socratic method from the curricula,,,,They are taught that you regurgitate what you are told, or fail...Questioning is out of the question.

Ignorance is not knowing and the willingness to question, stupidity is unwavering allegiance in the face of contrary information.

You are confused Moon Bat.

The Broken Window fallacy is sound Economics. The filthy ass government doesn't created jackshit. Just takes from those that do and gives to those that don't. It has been 50 years but I remember the text harping on how beneficial the government is in stimulating the economy and we all know that is bullshit.

The government is a necessary evil for the few necessary things we need out of government and we should keep it as small as possible and the welfare state is a big burden on our economic that stifles economic growth.. Samuelson would not agree with me on that and I don't give a shit.

I'm not a moonbat (it's one word, dude) and Samuelson is a fucking Keynesian loon.

Brush up on your Hayek, Hazlitt, and Sowell.

One Liberal wrote this in a recent article in the WSJ:

"It is time to admit that American liberalism is in deep crisis: a crisis of imagination and ambition on our side, a crisis of attachment and trust on the side of the wider public.
Ronald Reagan almost single-handedly destroyed the New Deal vision of America that used to guide us."
The Liberal Crackup

Let's go over the reasons for this.

They...Liberals, Democrats, Socialists, Marxists.... so very much want communism to be correct and successful, that the Left's pundits both ignore the truth, and lie about it.

1. "...Western leftists [suffered from] an intellectual disability when they gazed upon the Soviet Union....they failed to notice the transformation of their own...economies by Reaganism....

Almost all the intellectual energy of ....leftists was spent in attempting to demonstrate the failure of [Reagan's] policies by criteria that were short-term, parochial, and irrelevant to the dramatic character of the economic changes that [Reagan's policies produced]."
John O'sullivan, "The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World," p.257-258

2. One cannot help but laugh when reading the prognostications, predictions, pronouncements from one Leftist after another.... John Kenneth Galbraith, Lester Thurow, Paul Samuelson, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., Seweryn Bialer, Strobe Talbott.....one after another praising the success of the USSR, and claiming how tales of impending demise were simply untrue.

And this....right up to a year before the Soviet collapse!!!

Yet....these are the 'experts' taught to this day in our universities.....and the real expert, Ronald Reagan....despised in those precincts.

Anyone that has studied economics and politics in this country with an open mind of just learning what's going on, knows that economics is just the money side of politics.

And working in retail for 20 years of my life, I found this to be obviously true....to the extent of seeing how heinously corrupt companies in this country are, and how they are allowed to do as they please, as long as they give their tithes and offerings on a scheduled format to the politicians that oversee the specific areas of law that govern the companies particular interests.

I've also worked for a corporate headhunter, where I had to deal with colleges and talk to many of their administrative staff.

All in all, after fitting everything I found out from "the horses mouth" as it were, colleges are nothing more than the training grounds for corporate lackies of political offices in this country.

Colleges are backed and paid for by corporations and politicians. Therefore the colleges are beholding to their "hands that feed them" to teach the courses and use the books and information for those courses that they are told to use, by their overlords.

The "fly in the ointment" will depend on the teachers and professors they have in these colleges, as some will not only teach curriculum (the sanctioned studies of the political and corporate offices at work), they will also teach the TRUTH about said curriculum and why the students should open their minds, see what's really going on in the world, and be observant in their jobs and lives with wide open eyes.

Dissent and protests come from those who can think for themselves, put "2 and 2 together", see what's going on in front of their faces, and want a real change for the better understanding for all of society.

Unfortunately, there are more sheeples in the world that blindly follow anything or anybody that seems to know more than they do, which is pretty much anyone who isn't a sheeple. They are the ones that refuse to learn anything outside of the curriculum, open their minds, or even listen to any other view or thought on what they were brainwashed with by the overlords of commerce and politics. You cannot change their minds, as they have no minds to speak of, they are only living megaphones for those corporations and political offices in control of the money in this country.

Your perspective suggests that you don't understand the difference between ignorance and stupidity.

So you are afraid to address the OP, the fact that universities propagandize....and in your case, infantilize.....their audience?

Excellent.....you've inadvertently supported the thesis.

I usually only read the first sentence of your posts. Sometimes I don't even make it that far. You'll need to make better posts if you want to keep my attention and get better responses from me.

"I usually only read the first sentence of your posts."

If I had a dollar for every liar who claimed not to have read what obviously brought them crawling in.....I might be even richer than I am.
I'm not a Democrat or a partisan of any kind. I have no political loyalty at all, to anybody; that's just my way. If you were ever actually onto something I'd be the first person rooting for you. That's not the case though. You echo the same empty propaganda day after day. Do you really think so much of your own posts? haha That's sad because your content really does suck. Your threads can sometimes be fun to mess around in at least, but that's it.

If only more students were able to see through the propaganda at the time they were exposed to it, no Democrat would ever be elected.

I can't take credit for being smarter than the guy that wrote the textbook. However, fortunately I attended a Conservative university that had professors who steered us in the right direction and questioned some of the premises. They taught us how to think back then. Nowadays students are only taught to toe the party line.
odd that the troll liked your post when you described HER to a tee.she toes the party line of the GOP party despite the overwhelming evidence their history is as corrupt as the dems.:abgg2q.jpg::laughing0301:

That was confirmed in a congressional investigation. . .and? Once it was, this shut down that whole investigation..

Most Colleges and Universities depend on endowments from Foundations established by old money.

The 'dupes' were still viewing Potemkin Villages.
A dupe is one who is easily deceived or fooled. As far back as Washington’s Farewell Address, we find the warning against dupes: “Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.

In the early years after the Bolshevik Revolution, the communists used manipulations, such as the Potemkin Villages, to persuade the world how admirable and successful the revolution had been. One technique was to invite prominent American and British leftists to take carefully planned tours. And these ‘Potemkin Progressives,’ for the most part, behaved and thought just as they were meant to. Lenin, and then Stalin, carefully arranged the tours so that these progressives would then go back to their countries and praise Soviet Russia, and tell of the amazing success of communism. See Dr. Paul Kengor, Hoover Institution, Stanford “DUPES: How America's Adversaries Have Manipulated Progressives for a Century

For dupes such as these 'Potemkin Progressives'.... John Kenneth Galbraith, Lester Thurow, Paul Samuelson, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., Seweryn Bialer, Strobe Talbott...a trip to Potemkin Villages wasn't necessary. Long after Franklin Roosevelt has sworn that Communist Russia was what we should honor, and hope to be, they continued to carry that banner.

Imagine how quickly any college course telling the truth about the Soviet Union, or revealing the success of Reagan's economic policies...

...would be shut down......by Liberals.

Reagan credited for role in collapse of Soviet Union ...

"I think President Reagan was undoubtedly the democratic leader of the modern ... but like the rest of the world he had no way to predict its imminent downfall.

Reagan was right, and every one of these lying Liberals/Democrats was wrong:

... in his college textbook, 1985 edition, Paul Samuelson wrote this of the Soviet command and control economy: “What counts is results, and there can be no doubt that the Soviet planning system has been a powerful engine for economic growth.” The Free Market

...and....
MIT economist Lester Thurow wrote this just a few years before the Soviet Union went bankrupt: “The remarkable performance of the Soviet Union suggests that it can… Today the Soviet Union is a country whose economic achievements bear comparison with those of the United States.” http://www.currenticle.com/future-of-capitalism-book-review

....and....

"On the economic front, for the first time in its history the Soviet leadership was able to pursue successfully a policy of guns and butter as well as growth. . . . The Soviet citizen-worker, peasant, and professional—has become accustomed in the Brezhnev period to an uninterrupted upward trend in his well-being."—John Kenneth Galbraith, Professor of Economics, Harvard University, New Yorker, 1984.

But......

After 1991, we learned that in Moscow , a full half of the hospitals had no sewage, 80% had no hot water, and 17% had no running water at all, and, in actuality, the Soviet Union was a third world nation. So much for seven decades of communism.
Robert Conquest, “Reflections on a Ravaged Century,” p.106.

Yet here on the board we see the results of all the lies Democrat supporters have swallowed.

And we pay beaucoup bucks for that 'education.'

Educated people become less susceptible to lies and gaslighting which is required if one is to believe the right’s championed ideas.

1. Trickle down economics - failed
2. Iraq has WMD - failed
3. Tax cuts for wealthy and corporations will fund itself - failed
4. Mexico will pay for wall - failed
5. I (Trump) will balance the budget - failed
6. Infections will be zero by this weekend - failed
7. Protectionism doesn’t work followed by protectionism works depending on which righty president - fail/fail
8. Party of law and order - failed

Did you want to compare educational CVs?????

Who did you vote for is a one question IQ test, dope.

Let's review that this thread proved:

There are two kinds of people......not black and white, not religious and anti-religion, not rich and poor....

Nope....

Those who simple succumb to the constant drumbeat of communist/Democrat propaganda.....

.....and those who understand history, economics, and politics.

We’ve done that several times, I’ve got impressive credentials as well. Cracks me up how you think your education is super elite then you attack elite education in the same paragraph.

Who you voted for us highly correlated with your education. Always outliers who don’t vote with their head but their fears.
