"All Sky Fireball Network
Every night, a network of NASA all-sky cameras scans the skies above the United States for meteoritic fireballs. Automated software maintained by NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office calculates their orbits, velocity, penetration depth in Earth's atmosphere and many other characteristics. Daily results are presented here on Spaceweather.com.

On Dec. 1, 2015, the network reported 43 fireballs.

There are more people working a shift at your average McDonalds than there are astronomers worldwide who spend their time looking for things that will impact the Earth. Basically, we have no real early warning and no real plan in place to deal with something that we find that's going to hit us.

It's not IF, it's WHEN people. We need to start acting like it.

Well the good thing is, if there is a big one headed this way it will mean no one has to watch the skies any more afterwards.

The dinosaurs would be saying "yeah nothing to worry about".
