It's just numbers and a drastic shift in demographics over the years. I will say, as long as they are peaceful, I support the free expression of citizens to protest. This is fairly non-negotiable for me even if I don't agree with the protesters.

When I was a kid my mother would use the words "schlep, schmuck, putz" would tell me if I did something wrong, "that's not kosher" and she isn't Jewish. I suspect it was just the surroundings, who she went to school with or interacted with etc. herself when she was younger.

I remember I told a guy at work that something wasn't kosher and he laughed and asked me if I was Jewish. I never knew it was a Hebrew term, I just used the words my mother used.

Toronto was very Judeo-centric in terms of the way the city tried to operate. In support of liberty, tolerance, forgiveness, yes, liberal in the classic sense. That post-WWII world where France, Britain, Canada and America were the gold standard of civil progress.

Now it is a kaleidscope of people who are not Jewish. Might even be antisemitic. What it will mean going forward in terms of civil progress and/or changes is anyones guess.
