So-called whistleblowers have been claiming for decades that the government has secretly had UFO's/UAP's and were working on them. There is no reason for there to actually be secrecy on such an issue. If the government simply came out and said: "Yeah, we actually do have otherworldly spacecraft from an alien world and are studying them," the conspiracy fringe group(s) would shout, "see, we told you so," and the general public would say "wow", stay glued to the news about it for a few days and then....go about their daily lives again. End of story.
