He didn't take sides, he commented on a story of national importance.
The death of Michael Brown is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and his community at this very difficult time. As Attorney General Holder has indicated, the Department of Justice is investigating the situation along with local officials, and they will continue to direct resources to the case as needed.
I know the events of the past few days have prompted strong passions, but as details unfold, I urge everyone in Ferguson, Missouri, and across the country, to remember this young man through reflection and understanding. We should comfort each other and talk with one another in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds. Along with our prayers, thats what Michael and his family, and our broader American community, deserve.
A cop defends himself when attacked by a criminal. What exactly is heartbreaking about that? What would obozo have said if the cop was the one killed?
Obama did take sides, his statement assumes that the kid was an innocent victim.
telling the community to settle down was the right thing to do, however.
Why would you make statements that are contradictory to what eye witnesses have stated occurred?
How does the President's statement assume the innocence of a dead teen, simply by saying "I'm sorry he's dead"? It seems like you're the one assigning blame despite evidence to the contrary. Why?
If the kid had been white and the cop black----------would we have heard anything from obama? would the media have even carried the story? what if both the kid and the cop were black? same questions.
this is nothing more than another attempt by the left to stir up racism in an attempt to energize the left wing base for the november elections-----------THATS what this is about. Obama does not give a shit about that kid, everything he does and says is political and you silly idiots buy into it.
