True liberals are escaping the Brown shirt Left wing fascism in higher education.

A departing University of Alabama science professor stated that it is "career suicide" to stand up against higher education's "obsession" with DEI and climate initiatives due to the "rise in illiberalism," Fox News Digital reported.

Dr. Matthew Wielicki, an earth science professor and Polish immigrant, announced on Twitter that he plans to leave his position at the end of the semester partly because universities "are no longer places that embrace the freedom of exchanging ideas and will punish those that go against the narrative."

Wielicki, who describes himself as a "classical liberal," told Fox News Digital Wednesday that his decision to leave was "mainly personal," but the "rise of illiberalism" made his decision "easier."

"Over the last decade or so, but especially the last few years, the obsession with universities and grant-funding institutions on immutable characteristics of faculty and students and the push for equity in science above all else has dramatically changed the profession of an academic professor," Wielicki wrote. "The rise of illiberalism in the name of DEI is the antithesis of the principles that universities were founded on."

Wielicki explained that speaking out against climate and DEI initiatives was "career suicide" and that he is unsure whether there is a place for professors with dissenting views in the higher education system.

"Every decision in academia is framed in this lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion, whether it's the acceptance of students to the funding of grants," Wielicki said.

The science professor stated that the university system is "virtue signaling" by enrolling more minority students but neglecting to ensure "those students are being successful once they leave those universities."

Wielicki also sounded the alarm on the "false climate emergency" having a negative mental health impact on students.

"I see that this constant catastrophe-ism is robbing their ambitions," he explained. "I've had multiple students come to me and tell me they no longer plan on having a family because they don't think raising children in this world would be a smart idea because the planet is going to end. This is the exact opposite of how we would motivate young people to be good stewards of the environment and to look at their future and be responsible and make sacrifices now so that they could have a brighter future."

For those reasons, Wielicki concluded that the profession is "no longer worthy of my efforts."

The University of Alabama told Fox News Digital, "The University of Alabama is committed to academic freedom, free speech, and open scientific inquiry for all members of our campus. As an institution of higher education, the University encourages civil discourse and the exchange of numerous and varying perspectives. We offer a wide variety of intellectual opportunities and encourage students to form their own opinions and beliefs. Faculty earn opportunities at the University according to the merit of their work. We have no comment on specific faculty employment decisions or outcomes."

Globalist communism, not fascism.

The man has his right to, but it sucks it has come to that point. Just last week I walked out of diversity training at my plant. Didn't get in trouble for it, and I don't regret it.

They meet all the criteria except right wing. Ok then, what is "right wing". If you ask a democrat they will tell you right wing is a National Socialist, or NAZI.

He sounds like a real twat. Best he is kept away from youngsters.

I don't believe he was trying to chop off the genitals of the kids like the Left does

He just like to have academic freedom to question those that do chop off their private parts without their parents knowing.

Its not right wing, you can find out where it all started and find the roots in leftist origin.

Because National Socialist were patriotic nationalists fighting for their own nation and its people. (went about it the wrong way obviously)

Communism is a GLOBALIST ideology and is authoritarian. Democrats are neither right wing, nor nationalist, but they are authoritarian and globalist... Get it right. Nazi is WAY too fucking overused by both sides.

Right wing
/ˌrīt ˈwiNG/

noun
  • 1.the section of a political party or system that advocates for free enterprise and private ownership, and typically favors socially traditional ideas; the conservative group or section:"a candidate from the right wing of the party"
  • 2.the right side of a team on the field in soccer, rugby, and field hockey:"he reverted to his normal position on the right wing"
Well let's see, with this definition the Left fits because they have taken over corporations to censor opponents of the DNC, aside from a fluke of Twitter being taken back temporarily.

They are OK with corporations doing whatever they want so long as they tow the DNC party line.

As for favoring tradition, that is the one thing they do abhor, unless it is the traditions they are establishing.

It's just playing king of the hill with brute force and power. These terms are meaningless.

One professor whines and the whole system crumbles. He should watch for his replacement.
There are too many professors like him to even report, like Jordon Peterson.

He is perhaps the most famous of them.

Not really. Nationalism is something we need to bring to the U.S. Not fanatical Nationalism, but strong none the less.
You have a problem with Schwab, and global elites and the One World Order? Communism is how that comes to fruition. Not Nationalists.
Your post that I quoted didn't use the word "nationalism"
So I have no idea whom or what you're disagreeing with? .. :dunno:

The definition of fascism is a authoritarian nationalist right wing government.
Incorrect grasshopper. ..

The definition of Fascism says nothing about "Nationalism" or right wing government.

According to what website you go to, the definition is different. Votto got it from a site that says it's an authoritarian nationalist right wing government.

By the way, that phrase "exalts a nation and often race above the individual" is LITERALLY Nationalism.
