From Toronto to B.C, Canada is one creepy place that has been promoting itself as some civilized First World nation that supports human rights and civil liberties as they do in the U.S. It is far from the truth, then and now.

I'm tired of hearing about apologies for the past when there is no effort to alter the abuses of the present. This is sickening to read though.

Remains of 215 children found buried at former B.C. residential school, First Nation says

Preliminary findings from a survey of the grounds at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School have uncovered the remains of 215 children buried at the site, the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation said Thursday.

The First Nation said the remains were confirmed last weekend near the city of Kamloops, in B.C.'s southern Interior.

In a statement, Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc said they hired a specialist in ground-penetrating radar to carry out the work, and that their language and culture department oversaw the project to ensure it was done in a culturally appropriate and respectful way. The release did not specify the company or individual involved, or how the work was completed.

"To our knowledge, these missing children are undocumented deaths," Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Kukpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir said in the statement.

"Some were as young as three years old. We sought out a way to confirm that knowing out of deepest respect and love for those lost children and their families, understanding that Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc is the final resting place of these children."

A truly horrible story. Do they have any idea of the time period of the deaths other than sometime around 1890 to 1969?

As I understand from the article, the details aren't known yet. Experts are working on the site.

The school worked to 1970s, there must be people who remember the days when the school was still operational.

I was just wondering if it was from some dark time in the in late 1890 to early 1900s or whether dying kids ignored all the way to the 50s or 60s. Sad report any way you read it. Not my country, but feel sorry for those tribal families in your country, none the less.

Well, that is not my country, either. I dont live in the Americas. My feelings are that the most casualties happened in the early 1900s. Maybe the outbreak of some severe disease. Maybe the scientists will shed some light on this after a while.

Suspect you are correct. Thread started by ShockedCanadian. If you think about though, there is horrific crap that has been done, occurred or covered up in every country on the planet. Doesn't make it any better, but often seems strange when you hear of it in a country you never knew had those kind of events or periods, though maybe not as rare as we would like to think.

Canada can never pretend to lecture the US again. A horrible tragedy.
Will the people responsible ever come to justice?

Maybe spend less time handcuffing and dragging away clergy people in the middle of the street and get their own messed up hoose in order.

I guarantee there were at least one, maybe multiple police agencies involved in the "extraction" of children from the arms of their natural parents to be placed in this school.

Toronto Police, Ontario Police and RCMP are a security threat to Canadians. Unaccountable, covert, creepy and ultimately decimating our global reputation and economy.

If in 25 years Canada is still in the G7 I will be shocked beyond my namesake.

Sounds a LOT like the Grooming Gang scandals of dear old England where young women were raped
and abducted and kept compliantly hooked on drugs by connected Muslim gangs in mostly Northern England. All with the complicity and assistance of officials and knowing law higher ups who
didn't want to seem racist or who were being paid off to shut up and look the other way.

There are lots of people who've never come to justice in England even to this day and I suspect
the same could be said for Canada. The sins of the fathers revisited once again.

Some of us know way more than way than we should. This country has been backwards from birth and we've convinced our population that America is the big problem. This anti-Americanism is ingrained in us.

When I worked at a U.S corporation I was surprised with how well I got along with Americans. I had pre-conceived notions of what Americans were, and it was way off. I am actually most thankful for that position as I had daily and constant interactions with Americans. It altered my view considerably, which had never really been negative, but, I confirmed what I suspected through experience which I never knew prior.

My own system made me their enemy and they view me as theirs. It's not for show on here, I'm being very serious. It's a source of pride for me when facing unaccountable, dishonest, creepy authority. Where I have been wrong in life, I can admit. I know the truth though, and so do many of them.

Just don't be like us.
