These were a big hit many years ago, I recall people having printed stereogram images on their wall and they were regarded as a very hip back in the 80s.
They needed to be generated using a computer as they are extremely hard to do by hand.
Well they are still around and still mesmerizing, they are great to look at on a tablet too.
If you struggled to "see" the underlying 3D object then here's what I do and it works like 99% of the time for me.
Some people (me too) can voluntarily unfocus their gaze, intentionally make a scene go blurry, out of focus and if you do that when looking at a stereogram your brain will try hard to make sense of the scence, it will try to find somethin it can focus on and the 3D image will just "pop" into view, who can see what this object is:
