El Chapo Speaks
That's right Sean. The DEA wasn't tracking your every move.
The DEA knows whenever you take a leak anywhere in the world.
What an idiot!
I bet El Chapo isn't too pleased he allowed you to leave a trail of electronic bread crumbs right to his doorstep.
Then you're dumb enough to think he'll be extradited to the US. He's back in the same jail he escaped from and the Mexicans have put him in a cell with three inch thick hardened steel ceiling/walls and floor.
The little fucker will rot there.
Thanks again Sean.
Pro Tip to Sean: The more cells phones you and your team of idiots used the more fun the DEA had intercepting all the so-called encrypted data on them. Don't do it again the next time you fancy yourself as some great journalist/terrorist/Communist sympathizer.
I think the DEA should send you a wooden plaque thanking you for your service.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance they'll find Penns headless corpse floating somewhere off the coast of Malibu.

'El Chapo'-linked Mexican politician facing impeachment
Feb. 3, 2016 | -- Mexico's National Action Party is threatening to expel party members who oppose the impeachment of Lucero Guadalupe Sánchez López, a member of the state legislature in Sinaloa who is allegedly linked to drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
Sánchez López, 26, was elected in 2013 to represent the 16th district of the state of Sinaloa, in northwestern Mexico, where Guzman was born. She now faces impeachment proceedings over her alleged connections to Guzman, which include an allegation that she's the mother of one of Guzman's 18 children and that she spent New Year's Eve with the drug lord. National Action Party President Ricardo Anaya on Tuesday said it was correct for Mexico's attorney general to expedite the impeachment request against Sánchez López.

Dip. Lucero Guadalupe Sanchez Lopez, a member of the legislature in Sinaloa state in northwestern Mexico is allegedly the mother of one of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's 18 children.

"What is appropriate is that we political parties not become obstacles so justice can be administered in our country," Anaya told reporters. "I say clearly and forcefully, and with warning and no deceit: If a deputy of the National Action Party votes against this removal, I will personally promote his or her expulsion from the National Action Party." Guzman has allegedly fathered 18 children with seven different women. Sánchez López admitted she met Guzman in 2013, but rejected accusations she saw him on New Year's Eve and that she's the mother of one of his children.

Sánchez López met Guzman, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, months before her husband, a journalist, was shot dead. She is also accused of visiting Guzman using a fake identity while he was in Mexico's Altiplano Federal Prison months before he escaped. Anaya said a press conference will be held on Monday where details of the case against Sánchez López will be disclosed and where the people who endorsed her 2013 campaign will also be identified.

Chapo not gettin' a good sleep at night...

'El Chapo' says he's becoming a 'zombie' as lawyer alleges torture
Feb. 16, 2016 -- Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman said he is becoming a "zombie" while imprisoned due to constant roll calls as his lawyer accuses officials of torture.
Juan Pablo Badillo, one of Guzman's attorneys, continues to accuse prison authorities of subjecting his client to "physical and mental torture." Badillo said officials are not granting Guzman enough access to his lawyers, adding Guzman is allowed to see one lawyer a week for about half an hour. During an interview with Radio Formula, Badillo said officials are harming his client because they do not let him sleep. "He told me verbatim: 'Every two hours at night, they wake me stridently for roll call. ... They are converting me into a zombie, they don't let me sleep. What I want is, nothing else, for them to let me sleep,'" Badillo said.

In January, another lawyer, Jose Luis Gonzalez Meza, said Guzman complained about a dog keeping him awake in jail. "They wake me for roll call in the day every hour and in the night every two hours, and there is a dog on the side that barks a lot and also scares my sleep," Guzman wrote in a letter to Gonzalez Meza. Additionally, Badillo said he is not seeing his client enough to mount a proper defense. "The Constitution states that inmates are entitled to have as many lawyers as they want and to have direct communication to address the issues necessary for their defense," Badillo said. On the matter of possible extradition to the United States, Badillo said Guzman wishes to be "judged by Mexican law."

Guzman could be extradited to the United States after a lengthy process that could take years. He could be tried in New York, Chicago and/or California. Guzman was captured in the city of Los Mochis in his home state of Sinaloa on Jan. 8 after escaping from Mexico's Altiplano Federal Prison on July 11. Guzma's Sinaloa Cartel is credited with dominating the illegal drug market in nearly the entire United States, according to a recent report by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The report states the criminal organization is most powerful "along the West Coast, through the Midwest, and into the Northeast."

Mexican judge rules okay to extradite El Chapo...

Mexican judge rules drug lord 'Chapo' Guzman can be extradited
Tuesday 10th May, 2016 - A Mexican judge has ruled that drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman can be extradited to face charges in the United States, the country's federal court authority said on Monday, days after he was moved to a prison near the U.S. border.
On Saturday, Guzman was transferred to a prison in Ciudad Juarez on Mexico's northern border and a senior Mexican security official said the kingpin's extradition was in motion and would happen by mid-year. Guzman, boss of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, was for years the world's most wanted drug trafficker until his capture by Mexican Marines in February 2014. He then embarrassed the government by escaping from prison through a tunnel last July. The government recaptured him in January and President Enrique Pena Nieto said soon afterwards he had taken steps to ensure Guzman was extradited as soon as possible. He faces charges ranging from money laundering to drug trafficking, kidnapping and murder in cities that include Chicago, Miami and New York.

Juan Pablo Badillo, one of Guzman's lawyers, said his client's legal situation was still being processed and that to extradite him now would be a violation of his human rights. Badillo listed nine appeals pending against Guzman's extradition. However, government officials have said in private the decision to extradite the drug lord is essentially a political call dependent on the president. A government source said on Monday nothing was likely to happen to Guzman for weeks.

Mexico's foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday that it had received notification of the judge's decision, adding that once it received the case file, it would have 20 business days to analyse and decide on the matter. The judge's identity was not disclosed. In a radio interview, Eduardo Guerrero, head of Mexico's federal prisons service, denied Guzman's transfer was a preamble to extradition, noting that prisoners awaiting extradition go to the Hermosillo jail in northwest Mexico. It was not clear why he was taken to Ciudad Juarez, the lowest rated federal prison in a 2015 National Human Rights Commission report on factors including illicit activities and violent incidents.

Guzman's cartel is present in the city, fighting a war for control that made it the world's most murderous town in 2010. Crime has since dropped. At 9.00 pm on Friday authorities entered Guzman's cell at the Altiplano jail in Central Mexico, told him to put on a shirt and pack up his things, placing them in transparent bags, Guerrero said. At 1.30 am on Saturday, Guzman was flown by helicopter to Mexico City airport, where he boarded a police plane and flew to Ciudad Juarez. Guzman asked once where he was being taken, but was not told until he arrived in the Ciudad Juarez lockup, Guerrero added.

El Chapo-Kate Del Castillo tale surfaces as drug lord moved to Juarez prison

Further, the Sinaloa drug cartel’s leader reportedly requested to be delivered to the U.S. after complaining that the Altiplano environment was making him “seriously ill,” a request that was heeded to “with full respect for the human rights of the inmate” according to a statement from Mexico's National Safety Commission. Amidst reports of El Chapo’s transfer, details about his “reckless pursuit” of soap opera star Kate Del Castillo have reportedly surfaced.

According to reports, prior to his capture, El Chapo reportedly exchanged flirty text messages with Kate, following which the latter requested to meet him, along with producer Sean Penn, at his jungle refuge to discuss a film based on his life story. He reportedly conceded to the meeting in spite of the $5 million bounty placed both by the U.S. and Mexican Government on his head. It was added that, hours after the meeting concluded and the actor and producers left, raids were conducted at the location which eventually led to El Chapo’s recapture.

El Chapo: Mexico grants extradition of drug lord to US
Fri, 20 May 2016 - Mexico grants the extradition of drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to the United States on drug smuggling and murder charges.
His lawyers have 30 days to appeal and even if it proceeds it could be months before he is sent north. Guzman was recaptured in January, six months after escaping through a tunnel from his maximum-security prison cell. Earlier in May the Mexican authorities transferred Guzman to a prison near the US border.

But they denied the move to Ciudad Juarez, just across the border from El Paso, Texas, was a precursor to extradition. Guzman faces charges from seven US federal prosecutors. He is also accused of money-laundering, and arms and drugs possession. His lawyer, Juan Pablo Badillo, told Reuters news agency he would file "many" legal challenges in the coming days.

Mexico's foreign ministry has said the US has guaranteed Guzman will not face the death penalty if the extradition goes ahead. Born to a farming family, Guzman went on to become head of the Sinaloa cartel, at one point thought to be responsible for a quarter of all drugs entering the US via Mexico. Before his escape last year Guzman had already fled prison, going on the run for more than a decade.

'El Chapo' defense files injunctions to prevent extradition to California, Texas
June 28, 2016 -- Drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's lawyers on Monday filed two injunctions to his prevent extradition to the U.S. states of California and Texas.
Guzman's defense team argues that the charges issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in 1996 of racketeering, and cocaine import and possession with intent to distribute have expired as per a statute of limitations. As for Texas' charges against Guzman of conspiracy, organized crime, crimes against public health, weapons possession, murder and money laundering -- the defense argues that there is not enough evidence for a trial, stating three of four witnesses have said they do not know Guzman. "There is insufficient evidence to prosecute Joaquin under the law of the United States. Of the events accused by the United States, there is no data that he participated in them -- apart from that there are other irregularities," José Refugio Rodríguez, one of Guzman's lawyers, said on Monday, adding that Guzman's appeals could take up to three years to conclude.

Mexico's Foreign Ministry in May approved the United States' request for extradition. Guzman's defense has said it is prepared to take the drug kingpin's appeals against extradition to United States up to Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, El Universal reported.

Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel is credited with dominating the illegal drug market in nearly the entire United States. "El Chapo" -- meaning "The Short One" or "shorty" -- so dubbed because of his 5-foot-6-inch frame, was detained in Guatemala in 1993 and then extradited to Mexico to face murder and drug trafficking charges. He escaped from prison in 2001 by hiding in a laundry cart after bribing prison guards, and was re-captured in February 2014. He was captured in the city of Los Mochis in his home state of Sinaloa on Jan. 8 after escaping again, this time from Mexico's Altiplano Federal Prison on July 11.

El Chapo: Mexico judge halts extradition to US
Wed, 29 Jun 2016 - A judge in Mexico temporarily halts the extradition of the country's most notorious drugs lord, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, to the US.
A judge in Mexico has temporarily halted the extradition of cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to the US after his lawyers filed appeals. Mexico agreed to transfer Guzman in May after the US guaranteed he would not face the death penalty. But the ruling means it could be months or even years before he is sent to the US, where he faces murder and drug smuggling charges.

Guzman is being held in a maximum security prison near the US border. He was arrested in January after six months on the run following his escape through a tunnel in his jail cell. He had already escaped a maximum security facility once before, spending 13 years at large.

One of the appeals argues that the statute of limitations has run out on some crimes Guzman is accused of in the US, his lawyer Jose Refugio Rodriguez told Associated Press. Guzman's defence also argues some of the accusations lack direct evidence.
