In fact, it was embarrassingly - to you - accurate. That doesn't change the fact that what you said was embarrassingly stupid.
Hmm, no, that doesn't make sense either. In fact, it was embarrassingly - to you - accurate.
Assuming they strike, why isn't Biden going to force these port workers to continue working, which is authorized in the Taft-Hartley Act?small price to pay I guess for your beloved party to gain a few more votes.
Assuming they strike, why isn't Biden going to force these port workers to continue working, which is authorized in the Taft-Hartley Act?
When it's 1/2 of the United States imports, it sure is, not to mention the unintended consequences to other businesses such as trucking. One day on strike equates to multiple days to get operations back up, and the union plans to strike for at least a month.A strike isn't a huge deal.
Why not have both sides sit down and negotiate a fair deal?Assuming they strike, why isn't Biden going to force these port workers to continue working, which is authorized in the Taft-Hartley Act?
A 40% pay raise over a period of time is fairly generous, as compared to the ~80% that is being demanded. The lack of automation is astounding as well -- guess they are too afraid that workers will be replaced. Why not have both sides sit down and negotiate a fair deal?
He might.Assuming they strike, why isn't Biden going to force these port workers to continue working, which is authorized in the Taft-Hartley Act?
It's a very complicated premise.A 40% pay raise over a period of time is fairly generous, as compared to the ~80% that is being demanded. The lack of automation is astounding as well -- guess they are too afraid that workers will be replaced.
No wonder union-made things are so expensive, like vehicles.
That law needs to be scrapped. It's way outdated. We don't force labor do we?He might.
He already stated he wouldn't. He's just offering them thoughts and prayers. He might.
A Looming East Coast Port Strike Could Shake the Economy
Administration officials have said President Biden is not planning to force dockworkers back to work, which the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act authorizes him to do. Beth Rooney, director of the Port of New York and New Jersey, said last week that invoking the act would be “our best scenario next to there being a settlement.”
I believe what is enforced is the idea that they can't go on strike without losing their jobs. That law needs to be scrapped. It's way outdated. We don't force labor do we?
I didn't see that. You sure?He already stated he wouldn't.
It is when it could upset the entire economy.A strike isn't a huge deal.
East and Gulf Coast port workers with 6+ years of experience earn a minimum of $39/hour, not including overtime, a livable wage for sure. It's a very complicated premise.
Pay the workers enough to afford stuff.
And they will buy stuff.
Very complicated.
I think it took Henry Ford at least 8 minutes to come up with it.
That wage is lower middle class, in any but the cheapest cities.East and Gulf Coast port workers with 6+ years of experience earn a minimum of $39/hour, not including overtime, a livable wage for sure.
I already shared the New York Times article on this with you .. Did you not read it?I didn't see that. You sure?
And you seem.confused. That is what the workers would want him not to do.
You indeed are. If he said he wouldn't do it, that's the outcome they want.I am not confused at all.
