Slavic vs the West

What point do you want to make? Or are you just pushing a video?

I think the point is made already in the content of the video and I agree with the video

So, we're not discussing this with you, why would I bother to reply then? I can just go onto the youtube video and comment there.

Ok but more people need to see the video

No, you need to explain your point, so people can discuss it without watching the video.

The video can be there only if you people want to check it out, the thread should function without it.

Great.

wow. . . this is a really, REALLY ignorant video.

These ideas that you don't like? Are actually from the Frankfurt school. . . which is, ostensibly, a critique of Western Culture, and a revolt against Western Culture.

Slavic Culture is part of Western Culture you n00b.

It's function appears to be to highlight just how fucking deranged you LWNJs really are.

Actually South Slavs created W. Civilization.

Although not entirely true. . . there are many scholars that point out, their influence on ancient Hellenistic culture cannot be denied. They were one of the many prominent influences on it. Thanks! :113:

Neverless, point well made. Trying to separate Slavic culture from Western Culture is nonsense.

The only real argument that the Slavs are NOT part of the west? Is how long they were under the influence of the Mongols, and the power of the peasant classes. IMO.

". . .Ironically, the Westernisers were the ones who most keenly felt Russia to be an alien to Europe – this was something they felt needed to be rectified by adopting liberal social policies, a parliamentary system of government, market reforms.

The Slavophils, on the other hand, saw and were alarmed by a class divergence between Russia’s élite (who were culturally French and German) and the more Asiatic-facing peasantry. Though the Slavophils’ aim was also West-facing, they believed that Russia needed to build on the peasant experience and cultivate the ‘Eastern’ distinctiveness of the Russian culture, to bring about a synthesis that would save Europe from the extremes of rationalism and utilitarian thinking.. . . "

Actually no... the west doesn't teach that stuff. Its only a small minority of people who want to take down the capitalist system, by using various special interest groups to do the dirty work of breaking the moral of the people. They use LGBQ issues as well as Race, income disparity, Illegal Immigration, Global Warming, etc, to create a constant state of INJUSTICE.. that can only be solved by breaking it all down then and creating a socialist paradise.

Influence of the Slavic people on Hellenistic culture? Can you mention some examples of such influence?

What is nonsense is trying to equal different Slavic cultures, for example the Western and Eastern parts of them. Differences between them is so grave that it is more reasonable to consider them as two separate entities.

That's your wheelhouse.

I don't care that much about it. Discuss it with Mort.

"The Origins of Western Civilization: What it is, and Where did it come from" is the first in an 8-part series on "The Odyssey of Western Civilization" by the Freedom Academy, hosted by Victor Davis Hanson. The West arose in a particular time and place, Greece in the eighth century B.C., during the dark age that followed the collapse of Mycenaean civilization. An agricultural revolution gave rise to the autonomous yeoman farmer, backbone of the democratic city-state. Their innovations included constitutional government, free-market economics, private property and individual liberty - concepts unknown in Mycenae, not to mention Egypt and Mesopotamia. Here the West begins.
