I recall that the govern net lied about no historical usage of short barreled shoguns by the military. When, in fact, some 20 years earlier over 150,000 were issued to U.S. troops in France during the then 'Great War', now called WW I.

The shotguns used in WWI had 20" barrels. Four inches longer than what qualifies as a short barreled shotgun.
