Specifically, the lasting harm that their āhelpā has done black Americans.
1.As always, Coulter nails it:
āIt was the misfortune of black Americans that they were just on the verge of passing through the immigrant experience when damaging ideas about welfare and the lenient attitude about crime took hold. It could have happened to the Italians, Germans, Jews or Irish, but luckily for them, there were no Liberals around to āhelpā when they arrived.ā
2. But what about some bucks for our voters, Democrats say: reparations?
The historic and global scourge of slaveryā¦..was paid for in blood: "At least 620,000 combatants died during the four-year struggle; recent estimates put the total closer to 750,000, or more than 2 percent of the nationās population at that time. More soldiers died in prison camps alone than America lost during the entire Vietnam War. Perhaps more to the point, some 350,000 Union soldiers died during the conflict, abolitionists in effect if not always in intent. Adjusted for population, that would amount to almost 5 million service deaths today, amounting to a blood sacrifice more than sufficient to redeem whatever moral or intellectual inconsistencies there are to be found in Americaās founding documents.
And if thatās not sufficient? Well, then, nothing will be. But for most Americansāand for much of the rest of the worldāit is more than enough. "
Blood Redemption
Debt incurredā¦.debt paid for. Move on.
It's been eight generations since Republics pried the slaves away from the Democrats.
The only cotton any living American ever picked was out of an aspirin bottle.
In fact, the best thing society can do for black folks is to make that into a bumper sticker:"Move On-Move Higher!"
The result will be the same as it has been for other groups.
3. āLet's examine some of today's most devastating problems of many black people with an eye toward addressing discrimination of the past and present. At the root of most of the problems black people face is the breakdown of the family structure. Slightly over 70% of black children are raised in female-headed households. According to statistics about fatherless homes, 90% of homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes; 71% of pregnant teenagers lack a father figure; 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes; 71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes; and 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions have no father. Furthermore, fatherless boys and girls are twice as likely to drop out of high school and twice as likely to end up in jail.ā How Important Is Today's Racial Discrimination?
Again? āAt the root of most of the problems black people face is the breakdown of the family structure.ā
What is the cause of that breakdown??? Democrat Liberal Progressive Lyndon Johnsonās financial encouragement to leave the family and have out of wedlock children.
4. āThe Great Society was the panacea for poverty, right? And it especially helped blacks, who had been held back by years of racism, didnāt it? For those who think that the government is the most efficient dispensary of public welfare, the answer is yes. But the historical facts and figures disagree markedly, and itās hard to paint this disparity as sheer coincidence. Those facts indicate that the plight of blacks had been improving up until the passage of the Great Society program, but that in the forty-some-odd years since, blacksā economic, social, familial, and educational situations have gotten much worse.ā
Just How āGreatā was the Great Society?
The only real accomplishment due to the āhelpā Democrats have given blacks is the banning of one particular wordā¦.ācause, you know, black people are so fragile theyād just fall apart if they heard that word.
