President Barack Obama in his State of the Union speech tonight revealed he has overall good values and is an admirable passionate person and as a person is likable. Though as a President he is hard to like at least for this writer, a moderate, because as he demonstrated in his address he is all about pushing through his agenda he doesn't have a real appreciation for what is good which calls for the incorporation in his life that his Party lost big in the last elections Republicans are now in control of both Congressional chambers no legislation is passing in the balance of his Presidency that isn't either common ground or modest compromise legislation. Granted President Barack Obama does technically make an effort to reach out to Congressional Republicans but it is a pittance instead of offering some carrots to Republicans he offers a small pile of carrot shreds. Tonight the President missed an opportunity for a fresh and good start with the Republican Congress!

As the President said at the end of the Address he is going to do what he thinks is right which he has been doing since the day he took office in 2009 revealing he hasn't learned a damn thing over the past six years in how to deal with the opposite party. Listening to his Address I don't think his Presidency is going to reach its potential it really looks like not much legislation will be passed in the next two years. You look at the President and you ask yourself why don't you act like former President Bill Clinton why can't you triangulate why can't you say I will sign compromise legislation with X, Y and Z in it which only requires modest compromise from you Republicans. Your grandiose pie in the sky agenda doesn't have the remotist chance of passing Congress so it does nothing for the American people!

This Address tonight was a speech talking to the American people and at the Republican caucuses where it should have been to both groups. The President essentially said he is vetoing any legislation that crosses his desk rolling back Dodd-Frank legislation or the Affordable Care Act. Mr. President you should be looking to throw the Republicans a bone on these issues allowing them to pass some meaningful legislation in these areas so you can move to bigger legislation like one on a combined tax reform/infrastructure funding bill. Mr. President you are pathetic in the area of bipartisanship and good neighborlyness where you can't even come up with provisions on these subjects that will help the country and Republicans would consider a good compromise. On Dodd-Frank how about moving out for two years the deadline where banks have to get rid of the problematic bonds the D/F legislation prescribes, many in your caucus want this, how about changing the governance of the Consumer protection bureau to a panel instead of an indivdual like so many important government financial regulatory bodies; Mr. President the Affordable Care Act is hurting job creation and wage growth that is a fact your administration cannot come up with good ways to reduce the health insurance premium costs on business to address this issue the proficiency and competency of your administration is non-existent if this is the case. I picked these two issues to throw out areas of compromise because in your speech you made them "no go zones" but these specific issues aren't the point, the point is you have a problem with knowing how to compromise and you need to fix it quick or the country isn't going to be moved forward from Congressional legislation over the next two years and that will be a tragedy for the American people!
