I steer clear of politics in the gym, especially when I confront some from my generation-Baby Boomer. Many people in this city have been gaslit for so long that they hate Donald Trump more than they love common sense. It is a fasinating phenomenon to watch. Their faces become distorted with anger and apoplectic mannerisms appear on cue. I used to grin but that makes them worse. The results of the last election hit them like an asteroid wiping out dinosaurs.
They seem lost, confused, and bewildered. I think the best policy at this point is for me to just leave them alone and let them sort out the sudden realization that they walked through the wrong door even though they should have known better. I'm not sure what torments them more, that they walked through the wrong door, or that they should have known better. I think the "should have known better" part is leading them to the edge of psychosis. Right now they refuse to accept what happened and hang on to a delusional belief that Donald Trump is the personification of Lucifer.
I will not laugh. They need time and help.
