Is it really reasonable to base that claim on a poll, though? Not only are opinions starkly different from person to person, but people are also going to have different opinions based on who you ask from region to region. I feel like polls, on a surface level, make way too many assumptions to be reliable when making a claim of any kind, especially when you're going to pretend that those who answered the surveys are speaking for those that didn't. Not to mention, just skimming through the article, it looks like certain choices were omitted in certain areas, and while I don't generally consider Polls reliable(As they really just seem like a cudgel with which to bonk political opponents on the head in order to win internet points), I'd be inclined to consider it less reliable if the exact same questions weren't asked in every area. For example, if one year, you ask every country if they support Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry ice cream more, then next year, ask some of them only about Chocolate and Vanilla, it seems like your sampling is kind of tainted. In fact, I'd say the same even if you did that both years, because you're not asking the exact same questions everywhere already. That is, even if we considered polls reliable.
