There are roughly 1000 Peaking power plants in the United States

Way too many.... The greater number of them sit idly waiting for the price of the megawatt to go up before they come online. 75% of them are simple cycle with an efficiency rate in the 34 or 35% area making them expensive to operate.


The remainder are combined cycle... With an efficiency rate approaching 60% giving them pretty good market viability for their megawatt sales. If Ontario wants to close down the power lines they should go right ahead and do it... but they should also remember that there are hundreds of Peaking plants here in the United States cheering them on hoping that they do it.

The lights won't even flicker.

It's funny that the area they would hurt most is full of people sympathetic to them.
