Be careful if the diddler is the brother of a cop, they will pursue you and interfere with your life from a child to your grave. creepy, covert police state.

A report from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection says 252 current or former school personnel committed or were accused of committing offences of a sexual nature against 548 children over a five-year span.

It says another 38 personnel were criminally charged for child pornography-related offences during the same time frame of 2017 to 2021.

"It is startling and a bit infuriating," said Noni Classen, director of education at the Winnipeg-based centre.

Classen said it is the only known publicly available, Canada-wide snapshot of sexual offending in schools. The centre searched disciplinary records, media sources and criminal case law to build the database.

Right lets break this down...

252 school personnel over 5 years... I say that we are higher figure for a sexual predator but we are also talking about accusations rather than convictions.

There are 14,600 schools in Canada with 408,000 teachers...

So this would mean 0.0061% of Teachers are getting accused here..

While all these crimes are bad, this in a percentage wise in very small and we are talking 1 teacher in in 1619 teachers is a is being accused... Not convicted...

While this is something to keep a cloe eye on, I don't see a scandal in this..

These are only caught or known. Can you imagine how many kids don't say a word? Also, it was from 2017-2021 so it would appear it's a four year period regardless.

A teacher can even plead guilty to assault, quit (or be fired) and leave for another province to teach! Here is the biggest issue though, since education is a provincial responsibility, this isn't reflective at all and provinces report at their own discretion:

"Since education falls under provincial and territorial jurisdiction, most bodies responsible for overseeing discipline of school employees are not required to make the outcomes of investigations public. There is a complete lack of transparency, Classen said, and she suspects the report's numbers are an underestimation."

These are ones being accused... They are not guilty...

As you said this is reported provincial level, maybe this reporting should be moved to national level.

But considering the size of the country this looks relatively small..
