U.S. Supreme Court won't hear Louisiana's gay marriage case

January 14, 2015

How is this going to shake out? :D

The U.S. Supreme Court will not consider Louisiana's gay marriage case in this term, the justices decided Monday.

The decision means the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans can continue to consider an appeal from seven gay couples challenging the state's 2004 ban on gay marriage. A panel of three appeals court judges heard arguments from both sides in the case Friday.

The Supreme Court has not decided yet, however, whether to take any of four other gay marriage cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, which have already gone through initial appeals. The justices could decide later this week to accept one or more of those cases for argument.
