Russian oil imports have set a new record in the United States despite the strained relationship between Washington and Moscow. Industry experts believe the Biden administrationā€™s climate policies will make the country more dependent on foreign oil producers. The United States imported record levels of crude oil from Russia in March and is expected to continue importing at high levels in coming months, according to the Western Energy Alliance, a trade association that represents 200 independent natural gas and oil producers in the United States.

Imports of crude oil and petroleum products from Russia reached 22.9 million barrels in March, the highest level since August of 2010, according to International Energy Agency (IEA). Of the total amount, crude oil imports from Russia stood at 6.1 million barrels. Russia has become the third-largest oil exporter to the United States.

High levels of oil shipment from Russia have continued since March, according to ClipperData, a commodity intelligence company that monitors cargo shipments worldwide.

ā€œLast month we saw a record 5.75 million barrels of Russian crude discharged in the US, and weā€™re projecting a further record this month of 7.5mn bbls,ā€ ClipperData analysts wrote on Twitter on June 7.

Critics argue that Bidenā€™s climate agenda is hard on the U.S. oil industry but soft on foreign producers.

ā€œItā€™s disturbing to our industry that the Biden administration goes out of its way to disadvantage the American producer while buttressing the Iranian and Russian industries,ā€ Kathleen Sgamma, president of the Western Energy Alliance, told The Epoch Times. The recent spike in Russian oil imports has followed the ā€œmisguided climate policiesā€ of the administration, including ending the Keystone XL pipeline and pausing new oil and natural gas permitting on public lands and waters, according to Sgamma.

President Joe Biden has ā€œtipped us into oil dependence on Russia just a year after complete independence,ā€ Sgamma said, calling it ā€œa geopolitical giftā€ to the Kremlin.

The US administration plans to start exporting its new and vast gas supplies to Europe via Germany within the next four years. As doubts continue over a Russian pipeline to Germany, Washington sees a gap in the market.

Companies from the US will start delivering liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany within the next four years, US deputy energy secretary, Dan Brouillette, told German newspaper Bild on Monday. "US liquefied natural gas is coming to Germany. The question is not if, but when," Brouillette said.

Looks like those plans are going to be scrapped now that Biden has lifted the sanctions on the Russia's Nord Stream pipeline while at the same time hobbling US gas companies, thus strengthening Putin's monopoly.

Biden is Putin's bitch. Putin and Xi own Biden. They've obviously got all kinds of dirt on his corrupt kleptocrat ass.

Next Putin may force Biden to let a few of those Javelin missiles in Ukraine get "captured" by Russia so they can reverse engineer them.

LOL

Looks like Biden is having the last laugh
He doesnā€™t need Russian oil, he is switching us to electric cars.

Arenā€˜t you glad we have him?

Your knowledge of buttressing must go back to JoeXi performing fellatio on Obama, who was the first Arab POTUS, not black POTUS. I think we buy some fuel oil from Russia, not crude.

Excerpt:

In 2020, the U.S. imported more oil and refined products from Russian than from Saudi Arabia, with Russiaā€™s share of American oil exports at a record-high 7 percent, Bloomberg News has estimated based on customs and EIA data.

Russia mostly displaced the market previously held by Venezuelaā€”now unable to sell its heavy oil to U.S. refiners because of the American sanctions on Nicolas Maduroā€™s regime.

U.S. oil imports from Russia exceeded last year even the imports from OPECā€™s top producer and de facto leader, Saudi Arabia, whichā€”after briefly flooding the U.S. market with its crude in April 2020ā€”drastically cut shipments to the most transparent market to help inventory drawdowns amid collapsing fuel demand globally.

As per Bloomberg calculations, the United States imported on average 538,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and oil products from Russia last year. This was higher than the average American imports of oil from Saudi Arabia, which is estimated to have shipped on average 522,000 bpd to the United States.

Russia thus became the third-biggest oil supplier to America in 2020, according to Bloombergā€™s estimates.

Keystone XL would have replaced a good chunk of that Russian oil.

On top of that, Biden has attempted a ban on drilling on federal lands, which is under a TRO now.

Biden has played you people like the fools you are.

You're using a communist Chinese publication as your source for American news. A Questionable Source/Tin Foil Hat conspiracy theory site at that.

2 years ago we were doing well with oil and the future of it in this country was looking up.

But then it all got reversed, shut downs on production in America and suddenly we have a real problem. And now the answer is "buying from someone else"? This stinks of money, in the end I don't doubt this is about people getting their pockets lined at the expense of the American people.

If you do something different and things get much worse isn't the right answer to go back to what you were doing before? It's the most logical choice. So my question is, why don't they go back to what was working just 18 months ago?

The only reason that production in America has not come back to 2019 levels is because the oil companies do not wish it to be that way.

And who can blame them, they make a lot more money pumping less and getting paid more per barrel.

The US started buying from Russia when Trump was in office after he placed sanctions against Venezuela.
