Waffle House CEO Walt Ehmer has died at age 58

Updated 2:06 PM CDT, September 8, 2024
ATLANTA (AP) — Walt Ehmer, the president and CEO of Waffle House and a member of the board of trustees for the Atlanta Police Foundation, has died at age 58, the foundation announced Sunday.

He died from a long battle with cancer. Just 58 years old

RIP Walt. I hope your replacement will maintain things the way they are. Them hash browns are the bomb.
I have never eaten at a Waffle House, but I want to. I will try those hash browns out when I do.

Given Waffle House's long history of racial discrimination, can't work up a lot of sympathy.

I have always seen the opposite at the Waffle Houses I have been to. I would put these people down as so called activist (con artist) trying to hustle a free dollar.

He'll probably get a 21-waffle salute at the memorial ceremony.

With a side of bacon.

I really like the Waffle House in Placerville (El Dorado County) California. Their Biscuits and Gravy rock..

I don't know which one puts you at the most risk of being killed, Waffle House or IHOP.
I think Waffle House got em. There's even grease on the cash register there. But that didn't stop me from going every night when I was in the minors in Lakeland Florida. Ballpark at 5, beer joint after the game, Waffle House after the beer joint. The first thing that pops into your mind when you walk into the WH is that song, "I have friends in low places". Who says life isn't sweet.

His is a pretty cool story.

While he did not start as a fry cook, he did start with them just as a buyer and worked his way to CEO.

Brilliant! Simply brilliant that was. :laughing0301:

They're okay, a lot cheaper than IHOP and better breakfasts but they do need to drain the oil off the hash browns better. They're not all that bad a place to work, and promote from within as much as possible.

I stopped getting the hash browns.

Waffle House is not in my state. But climate change could bring southern food northward.

Golden Waffle Cafe is not the same as Waffle House.

Waffle House does not have any restaurants anywhere in California.

I just get some napkins and set them on those for a couple of minutes. I only eat there maybe once every couple of months, usually because nothing else is open really early, before 5, except IHOP, which costs too much for less grub.. The Old South Pancake House is too far away.
