I will say that a friend of mine had an International Harvester, and that thing was the bomb! One winter night, we were cutting up through an alley of cobblestone that was glazed over with ice and he almost pulled up through it without even switching to four wheel drive. We finally got stuck on the slick sloped surface but when going to 4X4, the thing immediately locked up and pulled right out of it. Perfect balance over the wheels. Any other vehicle I know would have been stuck there or slid sidewise pinned against the alley walls needing winched out.

All the V8s guzzled gas like that back then, but the Scout IIs were great for pulling trailers and plowing snow.
