The evidence exists for the FLOOD; however, if that evidence calls into question presently accepted theories, such "anomalies" are shelved and ignored until "such time" the "science" may explain them away in light of presently held theories... Example:

The Euphrates River Basin did flood from time to time caused by spring snowmelt from the Zagros Mountains and spring rains. That's what built the Delta south of Basra.

There is NO worldwide flood footprint.

What about the Tigris River?

What about the Tigris River?

All the Sumerian myths are about the Euphrates River. The two rivers are pretty far apart.

Tigris-Euphrates river system | river system, Asia ...
Having risen in close proximity, the Tigris and Euphrates diverge sharply in their upper courses, to a maximum distance of some 250 miles (400 km) apart near the Turkish-Syrian border. Their middle

The Tigris forms half of the fertile crescent.

I know.. The flood footprint, if you trust core samples, is 150 miles wide and 350 miles south to the Persian Gulf.

The Jews learned the story during the Babylonian exile and made it their own, but the Gilgamesh story had been previously written down in Sumer and Dilmun a thousand years early.

Its a great story so its no wonder they adopted it.

I spelled Sumer wrong, thanks to spell check. I was thinking of Donna Sommer and Bad Girls.

NO problem. As I get older my spelling has gone to hell.

Rising sea levels flooding lower lying valleys many millenia ago could also have created some long lasting
stories. This is a theory that kind of makes sense I think

The Black Sea breech was a slow moving flood.. They had plenty of time to move family and livestock to higher ground.

that depends on which expert you ask

The Gilgamesh story is based on a flood in 2900 BC .. There plenty of evidence for that. the Black Sea Breech is too early .. Flow rates can be measured by scientists.

The great flood (tsunami) of Siam will go down in Thailand's history books.

Disasters Remembered for Millennia

Also, the end of the Ice Age caused massive world-wide flooding when the glaciers melted.

Nope.. The glaciers melted very slowly and as they retreated the Sahara and the Arabian peninsula became MORE arid.

Floods are common events, there are annual ones and ones that only rarely but there has never been a single global flood. Ever. Some flood events are truly massive, the filling of the Mediterranean Sea or the melting of ice dams at the end of the Ice Age but none even come close to global in extent. Was it was a supernatural event that left behind only stories? Who knows. Geologists only have physical evidence to go by and there is none for Noah's flood.

Right, The glaciers melted slowly and the sea level rose, but the theory here is that there was a land bridge between what is now the Black Sea and the Mediterainean which acted as a dam. Once it gave way, a sudden rush of water, could easily have caused something pretty catastrophic to a small population
