There have been many very funny comedians over the years. Bob Hope, Steve Martin, and many others. I'm sure lots of people have their favorites IMBD has a Comedy Central list of the top 100 comedians of all time. Probably no one will agree with it entirely. I don't either. Of their top 100 comedians, they placed Rodney Dangerfield as their # 7 choice.

OK. Always an honor to be in the top 10. I would have had Rodney as # 1. He appeared on the Tonight show more than 70 times, and unlike most comedians who would stand up telling jokes for few minutes, and then sit on the guest chair next to Johnny Carson and kick back & relax, Rodney always kept right on going reeling off one "I get no respect" joke after another, with Carson & the audience laughing, and cheering him on.

His list of accomplishments is too long to list here, but you can find it all in the wikipedia link >>

So, please avoid the temptation to post stuff from other comedians, as this thread is topic is Rodney Dangerfield, and only him, and lets keep it to that.

So, to be honest, there are so many great Rodney one-liners, it's almost impossible to pick a single one, but just to get gis started I'll post one that I remember >
"When halloween comes around, and they're doing trick or treat, I answer the door and the kids give ME candy."

And since this thread is just for fun, you can also inject one of your own, Rodney style one-liners, as long as it is really in the "get no respect" vein.

Here's one I thought up. > "I get in the elevator, and I press the down button. The elevator goes up."
Forget politics just for one time. Have some fun.

The last time I saw a mouth that looked like that, it had a hook in it!

"I tell ya, I was an ugly kid. I was so ugly that my dad kept the kid's picture that came with the wallet he bought."

I had a few shows of his I would listen to on my mp3 player, this one always got me in the way he delivered it. He was a real old school type comedian, machine gun jokes so he would never have a bad night.

"I decided to leave the wife & kids and go out on the town & have some fun. So I walked a couple of blocks & called a cab, and asked the cabbie to take me some place where I could get some action. He took me to MY HOUSE."

"Then some guy came out the front door naked, with a sheet stuck to his foot. I met him at the gate, and said WHY? He said "Cause you came home home early!"

I went inside & went to the bedroom, and my wife wife was in bed. The parrot said "QUICK! Out the window !"

My marriage is on the rocks again. Yeah. My wife just broke up with her boyfriend.

These are the kind of jokes that had Johnny Carson hysterical through the whole show.

He had the best delivery too. made you feel like he felt every joke personally, like he had a bad ulcer or something.
His strong New York accent fit perfectly. Made his whole approach seem so real.

Even in death (2004), Rodney still kept joking. His cemetary gravestone epitaph reads > "THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD"
