What Offense Did the Ukrainian People Commit That Caused Them to Be Bombed into Oblivion by The Russian Military at the Command of Putin?

In thinking about why Israel is destroying Gaza and killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians, it caused me, in comparison, to wonder why Putin began bombing Ukraine. I honestly could not remember why this all began.

I'm sure we all agree that retaliating for having been attacked and having your citizens abducted and killed is more than reason enough to go after the perpetrators, even if we do not necessarily agree with how they are going about carrying this out. But what I'm struck with at the moment is how Putin was NOT defending Russia, or retaliating for an attack against the country and its people. This wholesale slaughter of innocent people seems to be based on ideology?

As Serbia's party leader and president, Milosevic pursued Serbian nationalist policies that contributed to the breakup of the socialist Yugoslav federation. There was no ultranationalism when Ukrainian, Polish, Baltic, Serbian and Albanian peoples lived peacefully behind the Iron Curtain. The fall of the Soviet Union gave rise to Nazi leaders such as Milosevic and Zelensky as the dark forces of nationalism were unleashed. Nationalism was among the causes of the collapse of communism. Zelensky's view of Ukraine has been both populist and nationalist, which was a major provocation for Moscow.

And I already told you that no one makes any equivalence between the US and Russia. Russia being an authoritarian shithole doesn't make your new homeland an open democracy. Your new homeland is a plutocracy.

Ok, lets go at it from comparative perspective - which countries are open democracies and not plutocracies according to you?

Try to throw in some reasons of the fundamental difference that makes them democracies vs supposedly not-democracy United States.

In what way is a jew named Zelensky a Nazi?

Did he proclaim some sort of racial superiority? Did he put classes of people in concentration camps and gas them? Did he invade other countries?

What the fuck are you talking about?

Well, I should admit that maybe in every Western 'democracy' big capital has more influence on politics than common people do. But I would say that Western European countries are more democratic than the US is. At least big business there is quite limited in abusing abilities towards their workers and has some social responsibilities.

So no, you can't name any real democracies in the world, every country is more or less a plutocracy. From Russia to America, to Japan and Sweeden.

To some extent, yes. What differs is the level of plutocracy. While say Scandinavian countries have it among the lowest, the US has it among the highest.

Yea yea sure - no real democracies according to you. :rolleyes-41:

I rest my case.
Yeah, okay. And since we finished with democracies, I want to add something more. This discussion about democracies didn't mean much, because 'democracy' isn't the goal in itself, it is mostly a tool to build a fair and prosperous society. And when a democracy (or kinda democracy) fails to do so, then there are few reasons of its existence.

I don't want to say that 'democratic values' have no meaning. Civil liberties, freedom of speech and expression etc (even given that they don't exist almost nowhere in their pure meaning) are also important for people. But. What the vast majority of people value the most is financial stability, jobs that can support them and their children, affordable and reasonable healthcare, housing, education for their children, safety on the streets, pension programs etc. In other words, quite practical things.

And when the people in a country masquerading as democracy can't afford all that, this country brings down the very idea of democracy and makes authoritarian regimes like China and Russia look more preferably, at least for people in these countries.

Can you identify a real democracy? Where?
